Stars' Alex Goligoski: Has first multi-point game of 2015-16

Goligoski notched two assists in Tuesday's win over Buffalo -- one on an empty-netter -- and went plus-2 with two penalty minutes. Goligoski hadn't found the scoresheet in nine of the last 10 games coming in, but picked up his first multi-point effort of the year, if not exactly in inspiring fashion. His seven points in 19 games have been a disappointment, but considering the 30-year-old's track record and team context, he should pick up the pace a bit as the season goes on.

Stars' Alex Goligoski: Continues downward trend

Goligoski was held without a point, despite taking five shots and playing 26:26 in Tuesday's loss to the Maple Leafs. Goligoski was never Erik Karlsson, but he could be counted on for some decent scoring from the blue line. Yet, for the second season in a row, his scoring pace is receding into the distance. With his playmaking abilities, it may have seemed before the season that he had a shot at getting some power play time with the team's dynamic forward group, but the emergence of John Klingberg as the real deal has meant that Goligoski is on the little-used second power play unit.

Stars' Alex Goligoski: Leads team in blocked shots

Goligoski lead the team in blocked shots with five and tied for the team lead in shots with four in Tuesday night's win over Anaheim. Goligoski is still looking for his first goal of the year. Through nine games he has four assists and an average ice time of 23:46.

    • Stars' Goligoski Deemed OK After Missing Finale

News: Stars GM Jim Nill suggested Alex Goligoski, who missed last Saturday's season finale with an undisclosed injury, should be good to go heading into the offseason. "Goligoski, as far as we know, is OK," Nill said. "He was hurt very early in the season; he had some broken bones. First two months never practiced because he couldn't, but he played all the games."
Analysis: It sounds as though Alex Goligoski's absence for the season finale was more maintenance-related than anything, as Goligoski had a tough season on the health front, though nothing serious enough to cost him game action. With a full offseason to heal up, Goligoski should head into the 2015-16 feeling fresh and looking to rebound after his numbers dropped across the board this season.
    • Stars' Goligoski Likely To Miss Finale

News: Alex Goligoski (undisclosed) is not expected to play Saturday against the Predators.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski missed practice Friday with the injury and wasn't present for Saturday's gameday skate, which suggests the blueliner is due to miss his first contest of the season. The 29-year-old has been banged up all season, and it seems to have hindered his production, as he's seen both his total points (36 in 2014-15, 42 in 2013-14) and shot attempts (122, 141) decline from a year earlier.
    • Stars' Goligoski Misses Practice With Injury

News: Alex Goligoski missed Friday's practice with an undisclosed injury, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski has often missed practice this season for maintenance-related reasons, but it's never resulted in him missing any action, as he's played in each of the Stars' previous 81 games. The odds likely favor him suiting him up for Saturday's season finale against the Predators, but the injury is nonetheless worth nothing for those who plan on using the blueliner in daily slates.
    • Stars' Goligoski Chips In Two Assists

News: Alex Goligoski racked up two assists in Saturday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski now has seven points in eight games after producing just three points in his previous 19 games. The 29-year-old, who sees second-unit power-play time, is now up to 33 points in 72 games on the season. While he may be inconsistent, Goligoski has established himself as a minute-munching defenseman who can contribute 30-40 points each season.
    • Stars' Goligoski Set To Play Thursday

News: Alex Goligoski (illness) is slated to play Thursday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Alex Goligoski missed Wednesday's practice with the illness, but as expected, he returned for the Stars' morning skate Thursday and looks safe to play. He's expected to slot in next to a new defensive partner in Jyrki Jokipakka during the game.
    • Stars' Goligoski Feeling Ill

News: Alex Goligoski missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness.
Analysis: The Stars don't seem to be overly concerned with Alex Goligoski's absence, as he's still expected to play Thursday against the Penguins. His availability for the contest should be confirmed following Thursday's morning skate.
    • Stars' Goligoski Stuffs Sheet In Win

News: Alex Goligoski scored a goal, added an assist, went plus-2, picked up two PIM and laid two hits in Thursday's road win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Goli's warmed to the task of late, with four points over his last four, but he'd need to get white-hot to even challenge last year's total of 42 points. Still, he's been a productive fourth defenseman for fantasy purposes.
