Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Faces three-game suspension

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Monday that Hendricks will be suspended for three games as a result of his illegal boarding of Florida's Aaron Ekblad on Sunday. Hendricks won't be eligible to return until Jan. 18 against the Panthers, a rematch of the Sunday game where his dubious acts were committed. Fellow left winger Rob Klinkhammer is next in line to see ice time in place of Hendricks.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Scores his second goal of the season

Hendricks scored his second goal of the season and added an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 shootout win over Boston. Hendricks has failed to produce much value toiling away on Edmonton's third line, as he picked up as many points in his 16th game of the season as he had in the first 15 combined. Hendricks hasn't topped 16 points in a season since 2010-11, so his fantasy niche is his ability to rack up penalty minutes at a high rate.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Will play Saturday

Hendricks was activated from injured reserve, and will play Saturday against the Kings. Hendricks has missed the Oilers' last three games with a foot injury, but returned to practice Friday, and will draw back into Edmonton's lineup for Saturday night's tilt against L.A. Hendricks has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in seven games this season.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Practicing with team Friday

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Out again Thursday

Hendricks (foot) won't play Thursday against the Coyotes. Thursday will mark the 10th total game Hendricks has missed with a foot injury that landed the 34-year-old forward on injured reserve earlier this season. The Oilers recalled Anton Slepyshev on Thursday, indicating Hendricks will likely once again be placed on injured reserve with his nagging foot injury. If that's the case, he will be eligible to return to the Oilers' lineup as soon as Saturday against L.A., although Edmonton will likely hold the veteran winger out of action until he has fully recovered from the ailment.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Won't play Wednesday

Hendricks (foot) will not play Wednesday against the Ducks, Joanne Ireland of the Edmonton Journal reports. It appears Hendricks is dealing with some lingering issues with the foot that forced him to injured reserve earlier in the season. As a result, he will miss his second straight game Thursday, though the previous was reportedly a healthy scratch, and Luke Gazdic will instead draw into the lineup. Hendricks' next chance to return will come Thursday against the Coyotes.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Questionable for Wednesday

Hendricks (undisclosed) is questionable to play in Wednesday night's road contest against the Ducks. Hendricks hasn't played in many games this season as he has battled the injury bug, but he tallied one goal and one assist through seven contests he has suited up for. Luke Gazdic will likely take Hendricks' spot in the lineup if he isn't able to play.

    Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Scratched Sunday

Hendricks will be a healthy scratch Sunday against the Blackhawks. Hendricks talked a goal, two PIM, and six shots on goal over his last two games, but he will be held out Sunday as the Oilers go with seven defensemen. Brandon Davidson will suit up Sunday in Hendricks' place.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Set to return from IR Tuesday against Flyers

Hendricks was activated from the injured reserve list by the Oilers on Tuesday. The Oilers activated Hendricks as a result of Lauri Korpikoski being placed on injured reserve. Prior to his foot injury, the 34-year-old winger had just started to play on the top line for Edmonton, so he'll be looking to reclaim his position there now.

Oilers' Matt Hendricks: Could be out an additional week

Hendricks (foot) said he could return in as few as three to four days in the best case scenario, or it could take him up to a week [longer]. Hendricks was getting a chance on the top line prior to his injury, which has kept him out since Oct. 17, so hopefully he can reclaim that spot upon his return. The left winger has an assist as his only point through five contests.
