Islanders' Eric Boulton: Will not play Tuesday

Boulton (lower body) will be out for Tuesday night's contest against the Sharks, Kevin Kurz of reports. The 39-year-old veteran Boulton will continue to work his way back from an injury sustained Oct. 17. He likely would not be much of a factor anyway, as he has appeared in just 48 games over the last three seasons with the Islanders. His next chance to return will be Thursday when New York will play at Los Angeles.

News: Eric Boulton signed a professional tryout contract with the Islanders on Monday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: The 39-year-old winger was only used in 10 games with the Islanders last season, as he routinely found himself in the press box as an extra forward. Unless the team experiences a litany of injuries during training camp, it's difficult to envision Eric Boulton cracking the roster.

News: Eric Boulton scored his first goal of the season Thursday in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Well, that's now two consecutive seasons with a goal for Eric Boulton, who potted two goals last year after going without one in 2011-12 and 2012-13. This was also just his sixth game for the Islanders all season long; clearly he was grateful for getting back in the lineup.

He's still being listed on injured reserve for the moment, but expect the team to rectify that at some point in the afternoon.
