Capitals' Jason Chimera: Picks up two points on man advantage

Chimera was electric Friday against the Lightning, notching a goal and an assist with the man advantage in the 4-2 win. Chimera often goes through long stretches without points, but when he does tally it usually comes in bunches as he has four multi-point efforts in the six games for which he's put a dent in the scoresheet.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Deadly on power play in win over Flyers

Chimera exploded for two power-play goals and an even-strength assist Thursday in a 5-2 win over the Flyers. After eight consecutive games off the scoresheet, Chimera woke up with easily his best game of the year. Still, he skated only a modest 13:38 in this one and continues to play a third-line role for the Caps. The power-play time was a new wrinkle, though -- he'd barely seen any outside of the first two games of the year. Still, unless he can carry this power-play momentum forward against stronger competition, Chimera remains a fairly low-end fantasy asset outside deeper leagues that count hits.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Scores goal Tuesday

Chimera had a goal and five shots in Tuesday's 6-2 win over Calgary. Although he may not be able to maintain his near 50-point pace for the season, the elder statesman of the Capitals is off to a good start with two goals and an assist in his first five games. Playing on a fairly effective checking line trio has been fruitful for Chimera so far, however the lack of quality minutes keeps Chimera from being fantasy relevant outside of deeper leagues unless he can jump into the top-six.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: In Thursday's lineup

Chimera (lower body) is in Thursday's lineup against the Blackhawks, Mike Vogel of the Capitals' official website reports. Chimera was expected to play Thursday, and that's indeed the case. He'll slot in his normal spot on the third line alongside Jay Beagle and Tom Wilson.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Day-to-day with a lower body injury

Chimera (lower body) is day-to-day and expected to play Thursday night against the Blackhawks. Chimera has been one of the best players on the slumping Capitals this season, scoring a goal and added an assist in the first two games of the season. He should be good to go Thursday and the 36-year-old should remain an integral part of the Caps offense.

    • Caps' Chimera Produces In Loss

News: Jason Chimera scored a goal, added an assist and went plus-3 on Sunday in a 4-3 Game 6 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Jason Chimera's been a surprising performer in these playoffs, having picked up three goals and seven points in 13 games; he only collected 19 points in 77 regular-season contests, so this is quite an outburst by his standards. The Caps have been mixing and matching lines, and Chimera's grouping with Joel Ward and Evgeny Kuznetsov looked awfully strong Sunday.
    • Two Points For Caps' Chimera In Game 5

News: Jason Chimera picked up a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating Thursday in a Game 5 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: He'd collected just a single point -- a Game 2 goal -- in the first four games of the series, but Jason Chimera busted out with a big effort in this one. Of course, his scoring is rather sparing, so don't look for many more outbursts like this from Chimera.
    • Caps' Chimera Tallies Assist Tuesday

News: Jason Chimera recorded an assist in Washington's 4-2 win over Carolina on Tuesday.
Analysis: The assist comes on the heels of a two goal outing against the Rangers on Sunday. Jason Chimera is playing on the Capitals' third line with Eric Fehr and Brooks Laich, and the trio have been on fire since put together. With only seven goals and 12 assists in 72 games this season, the 35-year-old Chimera is falling short of expectations set by last year's 42-point campaign, but if the trio can continue to perform well in the final two weeks, he may have some fantasy value in deeper leagues.
    • Caps' Chimera Pots Two In Win

News: Jason Chimera tallied a pair of goals in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: It was the first multi-goal contest of the season for Jason Chimera as he ended a 20-game goalless streak dating back to Feb. 6. The 35-year-old was never an especially high point scorer, but he's produced just 18 points this year so his contributions tend to be more valuable to the Capitals than to potential fantasy owners.
    • Caps' Chimera Contributes Helpers, Toughness

News: Jason Chimera tallied two assists, went plus-2 and gathered seven penalty minutes Tuesday in a win over Columbus.
Analysis: A finely rounded fantasy performance from the veteran wing, who's managed a pair of two-assist efforts in his last four games, but otherwise hasn't found the scoresheet since Feb. 6 (and Jan. 14 before that). Even if hits play in your format, he's got marginal value in fantasy purposes; if they don't, he's bordering on useless.
