  • Pens send down Johnson, Letestu

News: The Penguins have sent down RW Nick Johnson and C Mark Letestu to the AHL.
Analysis: Letestu scored in Monday's win over Buffalo, but he's still too far down on the depth chart to stick around. Johnson played in six games this trip up, managing a goal and an assist during an average of 10 minutes of ice time. Both of these guys are just organiztional depth at this point and can continue to be ignored in all formats.
  • Penguins recall N. Johnson from AHL

News: The Penguins have recalled RW Nick Johnson from the AHL.
Analysis: Johnson, a third-round pick from 2004, hasn't done much offensively in the AHL and isn't really a prospect. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats.
  • Conner, Johnson sent back down

News: Penguins RW Chris Conner and RW Nick Johnson were re-assigned to the AHL on Tuesday.
Analysis: Conner scored twice in Monday's win over the Rangers, but the performance wasn't enough to keep him around in the Steel City. Continue to ignore both these guys in all Fantasy formats.
  • Penguins call up Jeffrey, Johnson

News: Pens have recalled C Dustin Jeffrey and RW Nick Johnson from the AHL.
Analysis: Jeffrey, a sixth-round pick from 2007, is having a nice second AHL season with 43 points in 39 games, while Johnson, a third-round selection in 2004, has 22 points in 26 games. Neither are real prospects though, so continue to ignore them in all Fantasy formats.
  • Penguins cut a bunch Wednesday

News: The Penguins sent D Wade Brookbank, LW Luca Caputi, C Dustin Jeffrey, RW Nick Johnson, RW Konstantin Pushkarev, C Wyatt Smith, LW Eric Tangradi, C Joe Vitale, RW Tim Wallace, D Robert Bortuzzo, D Jonathan D'Aversa, D Chris Lee and G Brad Thiessen to the AHL on Wednesday. First-round draft pick D Simon Despres has been sent to Saint John of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Analysis: Tangradi and Caputi are talented young prospects who had a shot at making the Pens squad, but there just wasn't room for them. They are the only real long-term keepers in this group for the time being, so ignore the others in all formats.
