Kings' Drew Doughty: Grabs two assists in Tuesday's win

Doughty notched two assists in Tuesday's 4-1 win against the Jets. The Kings top defenseman has been quiet on offense to start the season, so this multi-point performance was a welcome change. Doughty got a garbage time assist on an empty-netter, but also assisted on Jake Muzzin's game-tying goal in the second period. He skated a team-high 23:27 and had an unorthodox four giveaways. Doughty is yet to score a goal this season, but you shouldn't have to wait much longer with the way Los Angeles is playing lately.

Kings' Drew Doughty: Bags two assists in win

Doughty picked up two helpers in 25:27 of ice time in Sunday's win over Edmonton. While he hasn't had a spectacular start to the season, Doughty now has three points in his last three games. The 25-year-old workhorse is still searching for his first goal, but he's fired 19 shots on goal and is logging heavy minutes, so it's bound to come soon. Now that the Kings have won five straight games and are rolling, look for Doughty to ride the momentum and amp up his production.

Kings' Drew Doughty: Plays 27:53 minutes Sunday

Doughty saw 27:53 of ice time Sunday in a 2-1 victory against the Avalanche. While the Kings won their second-straight game Sunday, Doughty failed to record a point. Although he hasn't been on the stat sheet since his first game this 2015-16 season, he still remains atop the first-unit power play and is part of the top defensive pairing with fellow teammate Bryaden McNabb.

    • Kings' Doughty Cuts Weight For 2015-16

News: Drew Doughty is expected to report to camp around 195 pounds after playing above 200 pounds in each of his previous seven seasons, Mark Whicker of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Analysis: After averaging a career-high 29:00 of ice time last season, a more than three-minute jump from 2013-14, Drew Doughty is hoping a sleeker frame will keep him better conditioned to stay on the rink for roughly half a game. The Kings don't want Doughty to get too far under 200 pounds and risk a decline in his ability to outmuscle opposing forwards, but for conditioning purposes, the weight drop should help him. In addition to the career-high minutes total, Doughty recorded seven goals and 46 points last season en route to a runner-up finish in the Norris Trophy balloting.
    • Doughty Points Twice In Kings' Loss

News: Drew Doughty scored a power-play goal and dished out a power-play assist Tuesday in a 4-2 loss to Edmonton. He ended up minus-2 on the evening.
Analysis: Drew Doughty's been producing offense pretty inconsistently of late -- over the last nine games, he's got seven scoreless efforts and a pair of two-point nights. It adds up to a solid on-paper season, but Doughty's not currently in any danger of rekindling last season's hype machine that had some calling him the NHL's best player during the playoffs. Heck, the Kings are now looking at somewhat long odds just to make the postseason this year.
    • Kings' Doughty Snaps 24-Game Goal Drought

News: Drew Doughty scored for the first time in 24 games and chipped in a power-play assist while going plus-3 Thursday in an 8-2 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: Drew Doughty's tally was just his second goal in his last 39 games, and he still doesn't have a power-play goal this season. But he does have a respectable 43 points -- his highest total since 2009-10.
    • Kings' Doughty: Three Assists In Last Four

News: Drew Doughty recorded an assist, but went minus-3 in Saturday's loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: Drew Doughty has notched three assists in his last four games, though a minus-5 rating during that stretch has put a damper on that production. He's still sitting at plus-1 overall for the season, so there's not much reason to think Doughty will be a risk in that department going forward. Fantasy owners should probably have more concerned about Doughty's goal drought, which was extended to 19 games Saturday. He has found the net net just once over his last 34 contests.
    • Kings' Doughty Helps Out In Win

News: Drew Doughty dished out a pair of helpers and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: A much-needed good outing for Drew Doughty, who showed up on the defensive side of the box score too, blocking five shots (his highest total since Feb. 12). He'd been cold in recent days, with just a lonely assist and a minus-2 rating over five games coming in, but you can't keep him down for too long.
    • Two Assists For Kings' Doughty

News: Drew Doughty handed out two helpers and skated to a plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Drew Doughty now has four points in his last three games and 35 in 57 contests this season. He's an absolute beast on the back end for the Kings as well, spending an average of 29:26 on ice, including a game-high 4:59 on the man advantage in this one. Already in his seventh NHL season, the 25-year-old is having his best campaign in some time, although he would still need a miracle to top his career-best 59-point explosion from 2009-10 as a sophomore.
    • Kings' Doughty Nabs Assist In Loss

News: Drew Doughty recorded an assist and four shot attempts in 29:10 of ice time in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Drew Doughty failed to record a single goal in January, despite putting up 32 shot attempts in 12 games. He was able to save face by picking up eight assists during the month, and his strong shot totals bode well for his chances of ending the goalless streak in the near future.
