Eberle (illness) returned to practice Tuesday, reports Oilers web site. Eberle had missed practice Monday with an illness but was never in any danger of missing game action. Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Misses Monday's practice

Eberle (illness) missed Monday's practice, Jason Gregor of TSN 1260 reports. Despite missing practice, Eberle is expected to play against Chicago on Wednesday, with bench boss Todd McLellan chalked up his absence to "trying to keep sick guys away from healthy guys." After a slow start to the season, Eberle has found himself on the third line, but he is still getting 2:39 of power play time per game. With Eberle's level of talent, he should find a way to break out of his slump in the near future.

Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Still feeling a bit rusty

Eberle admitted Tuesday that he is still a bit rusty, reports Oilers web site. Eberle admitted that the hardest thing about missing the first month of the season is adjusting to the speed of the game. Eberle did score a power play goal in his first game back but coach Todd McLellan still thinks he may have expected to much to soon from his top winger so he has moved him down to the third line for the immediate future. McLellan though has tinkered with his forward lines all season long so this is unlikely to last very long.

Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Will play Friday

Eberle (shoulder) will make his season debut Friday against the Penguins, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports. Eberle's return couldn't come at a better time for the Oilers, as they just lost Connor McDavid (collarbone) indefinitely, which left the team exceedingly thin at center. With Eberle back in the lineup, Edmonton is expected to move Leon Draisaitl back to his natural center position, where he will likely skate alongside Eberle and Taylor Hall on the Oilers' top line.

Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Practices again on Wednesday

Eberle (shoulder) is scheduled to practice again on Wednesday and is in line to play Friday, Jason Gregor of the Edmonton Journal reports. Eberle was injured toward the end of the preseason and his absence stunted the potential of the youthful Oilers team. With Connor McDavid getting injured Tuesday night, Eberle's return could not come at a better time for the team. He scored 24 goals and 63 points in 81 games last season and has been one of the most durable players in the league, this injury notwithstanding.

Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Skating with team

Eberle (shoulder) has begun skating with the team in practice, reports Oilers web site. Eberle is not yet taking line rushes with the starters, but rather on what would be a fifth line, indicating he is not yet ready to return. Still though this is a good sign and Eberle could be ready to return to the lineup in the very near future. The bigger question might be what line will he play on. Leon Draisaitl looks right at home playing on the top line and Nail Yakupov may be the Oilers MVP so far this season on the second line. One of this duo, likely Draisaitl, will likely lose their top six forward position.

Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Placed on LTIR

Eberle (shoulder) has been placed on long-term injured reserve. According to Jason Gregor of the Edmonton Journal. Eberle participated in the morning skate Thursday, as he continues to rehab a shoulder injury that he sustained in a preseason game, and despite being placed on LTIR, he's eligible to return to game ice once healthy, considering the move was retroactive to the start of the season.

Oilers' Jordan Eberle: Skating before practice

Eberle (shoulder) has been skating before practice, Tom Gazzola of Oilers TV reports. He's still not practicing with the team, but Eberle continues to recover from his season-opening injury, with Gazzola speculating that he could be back in approximately one week. That'd be good news for the Oilers as well as Eberle's fantasy owners, who have been missing his high-end scoring ability. He may not return to ice time alongside Connor McDavid, as Nail Yakupov has been doing well in that spot, but it's likely Eberle's eventual return will give the Oilers consistency at right wing on the top line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall.

    • Starting season on IR with shoulder injury

News: Jordan Eberle (shoulder) will start the season on injured reserve, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: Jordan Eberle starting the season on the IR comes as no surprise as he's expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks with the right shoulder injury originally sustained in a preseason game last week. Once healthy, Eberle could start seeing more consistent ice time with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, a supremely talented center. Since entering the NHL in 2010-11, Eberle has played exclusively with the Oilers, and last year he set in 24 goals and 39 assists through 81 games.
    • Out 4-6 weeks with shoulder ailment

News: Jordan Eberle (shoulder) will be out 4-to-6 weeks with a right shoulder injury, Frank Seravalli of TSN Hockey reports.
Analysis: Jordan Eberle was injured in Tuesday night's preseason game, and head coach Todd McLellan thought it looked fairly serious. This is a crushing blow to an Oilers team on the rise, as it will be difficult to replace Eberle's offensive production on the right wing for the season's first month.
