    • Blue Jackets Send Down Kubalik

News: The Blue Jackets have assigned Tomas Kubalik to AHL Springfield, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The 21-year-old winger netted his first career NHL goal during his trip up with the big club. Columbus has been dismal this season and Tomas Kubalik wasn't providing much of a spark. He'll continue to work on his game in Springfield.

    • Jackets Send Kubalik To AHL

News: Tomas Kubalik was sent to the AHL on Saturday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Considering the amount of time he spent on the top line with Jeff Carter and Rick Nash during training camp, this move comes as something of a surprise. Vinny Prospal was moved up during Sunday's practice and while Tomas Kubalik could receive first-line consideration when he's with the big club later this season, the Jackets must believe that it's better for his development to open the year with heavy minutes in the AHL.
    • Jackets' Kubalik Makes Most Of Top-Line Time

News: Tomas Kubalik played on the first line with Rick Nash and Jeff Carter in Thursday's win over the Wild and assisted on a goal for each of his linemates.
Analysis: He didn't seem to be limited by a minor concussion suffered last week. The general feeling is that Tomas Kubalik has a miniscule chance of sticking on the first line, but he has an intriguing blend of size and skill that just might play very nicely with the Jackets' top two guys.
    • Kubalik Back Skating On Blue Jackets' Top Line

News: Tomas Kubalik (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and skated with the Rick Nash-Jeff Carter line, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: It's still a long shot that he opens the season on that line, but the Jackets' coaching staff clearly wants to see what a player with Tomas Kubalik's size, skill and grit can do riding shotgun for the big guns. If your league is drafting this weekend, he could be worth a final round flyer.
    • Blue Jackets' Kubalik Practices Monday

News: Tomas Kubalik (concussion) practiced with the second group Monday, The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Though Tomas Kubalik was wearing a no-contact jersey, he said he felt good. He may work himself into "collision drills" later this week if there are no setbacks. Kubalik played four games (no goals, two assists) last year for the Blue Jackets and 76 games (24 goals, 29 assists) for the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. Kubalik is competing for a Blue Jackets roster spot.
