  • Devils Demote Zharkov

News: Vladimir Zharkov has been returned to AHL Albany, Katie Strang of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Zharkov was an injury fill-in as Eric Boulton and Ilya Kovalchuk recovered from hand and leg ailments respectively. Having served his purpose he goes back to the minors.
  • Devils Recall Zharkov

News: Vladimir Zharkov was recalled from Albany (AHL) and will play in Friday's contest against Washington, the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Vladimir Zharkov has not played in an NHL contest this season and likely won't have much of an offensive impact during his limited ice time the next few games. The Devils are down at forward with Eric Boulton (hand) and Ilya Kovalchuk nursing a pulled leg muscle.
  • Devils Waive Zharkov

News: Vladimir Zharkov was placed on waivers by the Devils on Monday, ESPN New York reports.
Analysis: He contributed sparingly during 11 games with New Jersey last season and Vladimir Zharkov figures to be on the short list of players considered when the Devils need a forward later this season.
  • Zharkov Recalled By Devils

News: The Devils recalled Zharkov from Albany (AHL) on Monday, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Zharkov was one of several players sent to the AHL over the All-Star break and he likely will resume his role as a checking forward. He's a plus-3 on the Devils in 11 games with a goal and an assist.
  • New Jersey Sends Zharkov To AHL

News: Zharkov was assigned to the AHL on Thursday, Bergen Record writer Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Zharkov only posted two points (one goal) in his 11 appearances this season, but he has skated to a plus-3 rating. He played regularly for New Jersey in January and so it'd be surprising if he didn't have a semi-regular role on the team after the All-Star break.
  • Zharkov Returns For Devils

News: Zharkov played 11:51 Wednesday in a return from illness, finishing a minus-1 in the loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Zharkov had a few chances in the game, but appears to be in the lineup going forward. He missed the last two games with flu-like symptoms.
  • Zharkov Likely To Play For Devils

News: Zharkov (illness) likely will play Wednesday against Detroit, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Zharkov had been battling a bit of the flu, and practiced Monday. There is no definite word yet, but expect Zharkov to be on the ice Wednesday evening.
  • Devils' Zharkov Could Play Wednesday

News: Zharkov (illness) did not participate in Monday's optional skate, but remains optimistic that he'll be able to play Wednesday, NorthJersey.com reports.
Analysis: Head coach Jacques Lemaire said that Zharkov, who has missed the team's last two games, still needs to get stronger, noting that he "looks better, but he's not strong, as strong as he can be." Zharkov believes he'll be ready to practice Tuesday and will likely be a game-time decision Wednesday.
  • Devils' Zharkov Out Sunday

News: Zharkov (illness) will miss Sunday's game against the Panthers, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Sunday will be Zharkov's second straight missed game. He may not be out much longer, so be sure to keep your eye on injury reports in the coming days if Zharkov is someone you depend on.
  • Devils' Zharkov Out Saturday

News: Zharkov has an illness and will not play Saturday against the Flyers, according to Tom Gulitti of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: With two points in 10 games this season, Zharkov isn't someone you'd normally be counting on anyway, but the Flyers are about as tough a matchup as you can get these days, and having all hands on deck would have helped the Devils. Nick Palmieri will not be playing either.
