Lightning's Victor Hedman: Provides bright spot in loss

Hedman accounted for much of the silver lining in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Habs, picking up a goal and an assist along with a plus-2 rating. The Swedish blueliner has been a boon to fantasy owners for a while now, dashing off seven points over the Bolts' last seven games and 14 in the last 13. Incredibly, this stretch accounts for nearly half of Hedman's point total on the season, as he suffered through a quiet first three months -- including a 32-game stretch from Oct. 24 to Jan. 5 in which he recorded only nine points -- while Tampa dealt with injuries and subpar play in the forward corps.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Adds two assists in win

Hedman assisted on both goals in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Blackhawks. The blueliner has been on fire lately, racking up six points in his last five games. He now has three goals and 24 assists through 46 contests on the season to go along with a plus-11 rating.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Records assist in win

Hedman tallied an assist in Sunday's win over the Panthers. The assist helped set up Nikita Kucherov's second tally of the game, an empty-net goal that helped secure the victory. Hedman continues to be a great source of assists among defensemen, notching six helpers in the last five games.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Explodes with dominant three-point performance

Hedman delivered one goal and two assists, and a plus-3 rating, in Friday's 3-2 win over the Oilers. What a game. Hedman's game had been quiet this season with just 18 points in 39 games. But he turned up the jets Friday and completely schooled the poor Oilers. It's his first multiple-point game since Oct. 23 -- that's 33 games. Hedman is a stud and maybe this game is the start of a surge. Fingers crossed.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Quiet season so far

Hedman, who finished fifth in NHL scoring from the blue line two seasons ago, currently sits outside the top-30 scorers from his position. He only has two goals in 39 games after scoring 23 over the last two seasons. Hedman is considered one of the best young defenders in the league, but he is really struggling this season. Mind you, the entire Tampa team has struggled to get rolling offensively, particularly with so many of the forwards suffering through injuries. Hedman has gone 16 games without a goal and his 18 points this season may frustrate his current owner. Those of you in keeper formats should watch for lurkers who'll try to convince you to trade him. You'll regret it if you do. But the more power to those of you who do attempt to get Hedman in a trade -- just hope his owner hasn't read this post and use his "declining" trend to lever a frustrated owner into something he or she will regret later.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Picks up helper Thursday

Hedman picked up a secondary assist Thursday, helping the Lightning to a 4-1 win over the Senators. The Swedish defenseman is on pace for 37 assists and 42 points, putting him near his career averages in that category for the season. His ability to scan the ice from the blue line should lead to steady assist totals, though he's been terribly inconsistent from one game to the next, having had just two point streaks thus far in 2015-16.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Scores first goal of season Thursday

Hedman scored an into an empty net for his first goal of the season in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sabres. It only took Hedman a month to light the lamp, but since it was into an empty net, it only really counts in fantasy terms. Hedman's numbers have been down with the Lightning struggling on offense, but perhaps this is a turning stone in the season for the Bolts.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Dishes Out Two Assists Tuesday

Hedman picked up two assists in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Predators. Hedman was questionable with a head injury entering Tuesday's tilt, but was able to suit up, and picked up two more points. He now has six points in as many games on the year, and should continue to be one of the NHL's brightest young stars on the blue line.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Will play Tuesday against Nashville

Hedman (head) will suit up for Tuesday's matchup with the Predators, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports. Hedman missed Saturday's game against the Sabres with the head injury, but returned to practice Monday without limitations, and will re-join Tampa Bay's lineup for Tuesday's tilt against Nashville. The star defender has already tallied four assists in five games this season.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Likely to play Tuesday

Hedman (head) indicated that he felt good after Monday's practice and was without limitations, and he seems to be trending towards playing Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Times reports. Hedman left last Thursday's game against Stars after getting his head slammed into the boards, and missed Saturday's game as a result. His return to practice Monday certainly bodes well, and assuming nothing happens over the next day, it seems more likely than not he'll be in the lineup.
