Islanders' John Tavares: Collects three points in win

Tavares tallied a goal and two assists in Sunday's win over the Oilers. The Islanders' offense exploded for eight goals Sunday, and Tavares was a major part of that as he recorded what would end up going as the game-winner early in the first period before setting up a pair of power-play tallies. The 25-year-old continues to roll with six points in his last four games and is now up to 40 on the season.

Islanders' John Tavares: Lone scorer for Isles on Saturday

Tavares blasted a one-timer that turned on the goal light Saturday against the Red Wings, but the Islanders were strapped with a 5-1 loss. Tavares scored early in the third period but the Isles were already down five goals by the time he found twine - too little, too late for the perennial fantasy stud who now has 37 points in 47 games this season.

Islanders' John Tavares: Comes out of break with two points

Tavares picked up a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 5-3 win over the Wild. That's now five points in the last three games for Tavares, and it's nice to see him exit the All-Star break looking good. The addition of Mikhail Grabovski to the top line alongside Ryan Strome and Tavares has paid dividends recently, but the jury's still out on whether that's a sustainable arrangement. Owners of the star center have to be hoping it is, as they've been disappointed by statistical regression in practically every meaningful fantasy category this year.

Islanders' John Tavares: Islanders and Flyers game postponed

Saturday's matchup between the Islanders and Flyers has been postponed. Winter storm Jonas has now forced the NHL to postpone a total of three games. Assuming the weather cooperates, Tavares and the Isles will be back in action Monday against the Red Wings.

Islanders' John Tavares: Tallies two points

Tavares lit the lamp and added an assist against the Senators on Friday. He also went plus-2 and had five shots on goal. Tavares had gone six games without a goal, so finding the back of the net was nice. Tavares' track record is too good to worry too much, and he still has 16 goals this year, but it is still good to see him break that streak.

Islanders' John Tavares: Hasn't scored in six games

Tavares has gone six straight games without a goal. Tavares does have two assists during this span but the goalless streak is his longest of the season. The Isles are still calling it just a slump but sooner or later fantasy owners are going to have to admit that this has been a disappointing season for Tavares and he is unlikely to deliver what his value was at draft time.

Islanders' John Tavares: Only three power play goals this season

Tavares has only scored three power play goals so far this year. Tavares is having a down season in general with 15 markers in 39 games and his lack of success with the man advantage is a big reason why. The Islanders have struggled with their power play for most of the season and will need Tavares goal scoring ability in order to snap out of it. He had 13 power play goals last season so this may be just a slump and not a sign of things to come.

Islanders' John Tavares: Starts off 2016 the right way

Tavares notched his 15th goal of the season as the Isles got trounced 5-2 on Saturday. If you're an Islander fan you can look at the bright spot here as the goal was Tavares second in the last three games, a sign that he may be coming out of a slump that saw him score only three goals in the month of December.

Islanders' John Tavares: Ending awful December on high note

Tavares scored a goal and added an assist while going plus-2 with two PIM in Tuesday's win over Toronto. The first nine games of September were uncharacteristically unkind to Tavares, as he put up just two goals and a minus-3 rating in that span, including two games in which he didn't even put a shot on goal. However, he's picked up a pair of two-point efforts in his last three, so it looks like Tavares is getting over that cooling spell. Considering his track record, fantasy owners had no choice but to ride through the slump; they're being rewarded for their patience now.

Islanders' John Tavares: Puts two points on board Monday

Tavares tallied two assists while firing four shots on goal in Monday's 5-2 win over the visiting Ducks. While 25 points in 32 games may not seem bad for anyone not named Tavares, the Isles' captain has been mired in an uncharacteristic dry spell of late. The pair of apples actually gives him just three points in the last nine contests, a span that featured two games without a single shot on goal and two additional games with two SOG or less. While nothing has been reported, one has to wonder if the superstar dealing with some type of ailment that's causing a dip in production. Johnny T has some serious pedigree though, so he'll more than likely find a way to finish the season at a point-per-game -- or better -- pace.
