Avalanche's Tyson Barrie: Makes it into goal column, adds helper

Barrie scored his first goal of the year Thursday and added a power-play assist in a 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh. The goal was a wicked one, as he whipped a shot from the blue line that went past Pens netminder Marc-Andre Fleury so fast, he may never have seen it coming. Considering he's potted 25 pucks in the past two seasons, Barrie knows how to score, and it shouldn't be long before he finds the back of the net again. And even when he isn't getting in the goal column, Barrie also has the skill to distribute the puck and rack up assists.

Avalanche's Tyson Barrie: Will have hearing for questionable hit

Barrie is scheduled to have a hearing Saturday with the NHL Department of Player Safety regarding his hit on Anaheim's Simon Despres in Friday's tilt against the Ducks. Although the hit wasn't penalized during the game, the NHL Department of Player Safety has decided that Barrie may have been guilty of charging and interference on the play. Although Barrie doesn't have a history of dirty play, the fact that Despres was forced to exit the tilt with an upper-body injury as a result of the hit may factor into the Department of Player Safety's ruling.

Pat yourself on the back if you had the foresight to draft Barrie for what has been a breakout season.
