  • Panthers Part Ways With Blacker

News: Jesse Blacker wasn't tendered a qualifying offer by the Panthers on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Acquired from the Ducks in December, Jesse Blacker spent all of his time in the Panthers organization with AHL San Antonio, where he recorded 18 points across 40 games. The 24-year-old possesses some pedigree as a former second-round selection in 2009, so he'll still likely draw interest in free agency from a number of clubs.
  • Panthers Acquire Blacker From Ducks

News: Jesse Blacker was was traded to the Panthers on Thursday, along with a conditional draft pick, in exchange for Colby Robak.
Analysis: Jesse Blacker has five points over 15 games with AHL Norforlk this season, and has only been with the Ducks for one contest in 2014-15. He'll provide organizational depth for the Panthers, but will likely need an injury to occur on one of the top three defensive pairings in order to see NHL time again this season. He's set to report to the Panthers' AHL affiliate in San Antonio.
  • Ducks Reassign Blacker

News: Jesse Blacker was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Tuesday.
Analysis: After going minus-2 over 6:03 of ice time in his NHL debut Friday against the Blackhawks, Jesse Blacker had served as a healthy scratch for the team the last two games. With Clayton Stoner nearing a return from the mumps perhaps as soon as Wednesday, Blacker will head back to the minors to see more meaningful development time.
  • Ducks Recall Prospect Blacker

News: Jesse Blacker was recalled from AHL Norfolk on Friday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Clayton Stoner was officially diagnosed with the mumps virus and ruled out of Friday's game against the Blackhawks, forcing the Ducks to bring up Jesse Blacker for his NHL debut. The 23-year-old, who is considered one of the organization's better blue line prospects, has four points in 14 games with Norfolk.
  • Ducks' Blacker Assigned To Norfolk

News: Jesse Blacker was assigned to AHL Norfolk as the Ducks continue to trim their roster.
Analysis: Jesse Blacker spent last season in Norfolk as well after being acquired in a deal from Toronto. With the Ducks depth on the blue line, he will likely spend this season in the AHL also, that is unless injuries cripple the D corps.
  • Ducks Re-Sign Blacker

News: Jesse Blacker re-signed with the Ducks on a one-year, two-way contract Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Acquired from the Maple Leafs in November, Jesse Blacker went on to spend 50 games with AHL Norfolk last season, totaling 24 points and a minus-16 rating. Even if Blacker somehow earns a promotion to Anaheim during the upcoming season, the Ducks don't figure to keep him around for very long.
  • Leafs Trade Blacker To Ducks

News: Jesse Blacker was traded to the Ducks on Saturday along with two 2014 draft picks in exchange for Peter Holland and Brad Staubitz.
Analysis: It's a relatively minor deal considering the latest rumors involving the Ducks' search for another goalie. Jesse Blacker has played just five games for the Marlies of the AHL this season and has one goal. His exact role with Anaheim is unclear at this time but it is assumed that he'll start off with its AHL affiliate for the time being.
  • Maple Leafs Call Up Blacker

News: Jesse Blacker was called up to the Maple Leafs on Thursday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: Jesse Blacker was simply called up to provide the Maple Leafs with an extra defenseman if Mark Fraser is forced to miss Game 5 with a cranial fracture. He's not expected to be much of a contributor if activated.
  • Leafs Send Blacker To AHL

News: The Maple Leafs have reassigned Jesse Blacker to AHL Toronto, the Canadian Press reports.
Analysis: Jesse Blacker gave the Leafs an extra blueliner with John-Michael Liles banged up, but with Liles available again, Blacker will head back to the AHL, where he has recorded 10 points and 31 PIMs in 53 games to date.
  • Leafs Summon Blacker

News: Jesse Blacker has joined the Maple Leafs, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.
Analysis: He'll give the Leafs an extra blueliner with John-Michael Liles banged up, but Jesse Blacker probably won't suit up for Monday's game against the Bruins.
