Coyotes' Kevin Connauton: Claimed by Arizona

Connauton was snatched up by the Coyotes on Wednesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports. Connauton was writing himself on the scoresheet in his limited opportunities for Columbus, notching a point in each of his last four contests. The blueliner will hope to keep his point streak rolling, despite the change of venue. It remains unclear where the 25-year-old will fit in with Arizona's defensive pairings.

Blue Jackets' Kevin Connauton: Waived by Blue Jackets

Connauton has been waived by the Blue Jackets, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports. The Blue Jackets gave their blue line a facelift by acquiring Seth Jones from Nashville last Wednesday, leaving Connauton as the odd man out. If he clears waivers, it's quite possible that he could end up with AHL Lake Erie.

  • Plus-seven in five preseason games

News: Kevin Connauton finished the preseason with one assist, 10 shots on goal and a plus-seven rating in five games.
Analysis: He isn't likely to have a lot of fantasy value and heads into the season as the Blue Jackets' seventh defenseman, but Kevin Connauton could have some short-term value in deeper leagues on a young, improving club if injuries allow him to move up the depth chart.
  • Jackets To Scratch Connauton

News: Kevin Connauton is in line to serve as a healthy scratch Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: The return of Ryan Murray from a lower-body injury Wednesday appears to have cost Kevin Connauton a lineup spot. After being scooped up off waivers in early November, Connauton shined early for the Blue Jackets with five goals and four assists in his first 15 games with the team, but since then, he's provided the same amount of points in 38 contests.
  • Jackets' Connauton Will Play Tuesday

News: Kevin Connauton (foot) will rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Hurricanes, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton declared himself fit to play after Monday's practice and the team apparently felt the same way, as he slotted back in on the Jackets' third defensive pairing during Tuesday's morning skate. The blueliner missed the team's last six games after being struck in the foot during a Feb. 24 loss to the Sabres.
  • Jackets' Connauton (Lower Body) Ready To Return

News: Kevin Connauton (lower body) is ready to return and could dress Tuesday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: It sounds as though Kevin Connauton is pretty healthy and is likely to return to the linuep Tuesday. The blueliner has 15 points in 39 games with the Blue Jackets this season, adding 12 penalty minutes.
  • Jackets' Connauton Ruled Out Saturday

News: Kevin Connauton (foot) will not play Saturday against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton was able to get in a skate Saturday morning, but the Blue Jackets aren't yet comfortable bringing him back into the lineup. He'll likely need to start practicing with the rest of the team in the next couple of days to have a shot at playing Tuesday against the Hurricanes.
  • Jackets' Connauton Out Friday, Could Play Saturday

News: Coach Todd Richards said that while Kevin Connauton (foot) has been ruled out from playing Friday against the Devils, he could be ready to go for Saturday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton will sit out his fifth straight game Friday. The blueliner returned to the ice for practice Thursday, but probably needs at least one more session with the team before the coaching and training staff sign off on his placement in the lineup. Since Saturday's game will be the second in as many days for the Blue Jackets, it's likely the team will bypass a morning skate and not announce a verdict on Connauton's status for the contest until pregame warmups.
  • Jackets' Connauton Likely Won't Play For A Week

News: Coach Todd Richards said after Saturday's morning skate that Kevin Connauton (foot) likely wouldn't play for another week, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Assuming that timetable holds through the start of next week, Kevin Connauton will miss at least the next three games while he recovers from the foot injury. The Blue Jackets will lean on some combination of Cody Goloubef, Dalton Prout, and Jordan Leopold to cover for Connauton's absence.
  • Jackets' Connauton Likely Out For Weekend

News: Kevin Connauton (foot) is expected to miss both of the Blue Jackets' weekend games against the Devils and Penguins, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Kevin Connauton has yet to get back on the ice since hurting his foot in Tuesday's loss to the Sabres. The Blue Jackets are still considering him day-to-day, but it looks like his next realistic chance at playing won't come until this coming Tuesday against the Capitals.
