  • Lightning's Janus Headed to Europe for 2012-13

News: Jaroslav Janus will play the 2012-13 season in Europe, the St. Petersburg Times reports.
Analysis: The Lightning have a host of AHL goaltending prospects, with no opportunity for Jaroslav Janus forthcoming. Janus posted a 2.36 GAA and a .914 save percentage in 34 games with Norfolk of the AHL last season. He has not agreed to a contract with a European club at the moment.
  • Bolts' Prospest Janus Struggling In AHL

News: Jaroslav Janus currently sports a 3.14 GAA and an .889 save percentage as the backup netminder in Norfolk of the AHL.
Analysis: Two years ago, Jaroslav Janus was the great underdog who led the Slovaks to a quarterfinal win over the heavily favored team from the U.S at the World Junior Championships. His development has stalled somewhat but he is only 22 -- goalies often take more time to mature. He's not keeper material at this point, though.
  • Bolts' Janus Sent to ECHL

News: Janus has been assigned to Florida of the ECHL, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
Analysis: The move doesn't come as a surprise; the Bolts have a bottleneck between the pipes and Janus sits behind Dustin Tokarski and Cedrick Desjardins on the depth chart. Janus has talent but he needs work; he'll get it in spades in the ECHL.
  • Lightning ink goalie Janus

News: The Lightning signed goalie Jaroslav Janus to an entry-level contract on Friday. He will be assigned to Norfolk of the AHL.
Analysis: Janus appeared in two games with the Admirals earlier this season on a tryout basis, posting a 1.52 GAA and .939 save percentage. The 20-year-old goalie and 2009 sixth-round pick has also played with Erie of the OHL (juniors) this season. Janus is at best behind Dustin Tokarski and Riku Helenius on the prospect depth chart. He has no Fantasy appeal until further notice.
