    • Suspended without pay

News: Zack Kassian was suspended without pay by the Canadiens Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: Zack Kassian, whose maturity level has been questioned throughout his NHL career, will now enter Stage Two of the NHL-NHLPA joint Behavioral Modification program. Kassian will not be able to return to team activities until doctors have decided he is healthy and rehabilitated enough to do so. It's an unfortunate turn of events for the troubled 24-year-old winger, but on the bright side, Kassian should finally be able to get the help he needs.
    • Suffers fractured nose, foot

News: Zack Kassian fractured his nose and left foot in the car accident he was involved in early Sunday morning, Arpon Basu of reports.
Analysis: Initial reports indicated Zack Kassian had only suffered "minor injuries," but Monday's announcement completely contradicts those statements. Kassian has struggled with maturity throughout his professional career, and Sunday's incident once again calls it into question. General manager Marc Bergevin told reporters Monday that Kassian "lacks character and judgement," so he seems to have been firmly placed in the club's doghouse. The team may decide to suspend Kassian or place him on IR, but for now, the 24-year-old's absence opens the door for Devante Smith-Pelly or Jacob De La Rose to secure a spot on the team's opening-night roster.
    • Misses practice Monday

News: Zack Kassian was absent from practice Monday after being involved in an automobile accident early Sunday morning, Arpon Basu of reports.
Analysis: Zack Kassian is reportedly no longer in the hospital after Sunday morning's incident, and is apparently only dealing with "minor injuries". The 24-year-old's status with the Canadiens, however, is now up in the air. If the team decides to waive him, Devante Smith-Pelly or Jacob De La Rose will likely fill his spot on Montreal's opening-night roster.
    • Involved in car accident

News: Zack Kassian was involved in an automobile accident early Sunday morning, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Canadiens are saying Zack Kassian, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered "minor injuries" and a witness said Kassian appeared dazed and bloodied. He had been penciled in for fourth-line duty along with Torrey Mitchell and Brian Flynn, but this obviously could change things. That would open up a roster spot, likely for Devante Smith-Pelly or Jacob De La Rose.
    • Filling enforcer role

News: Zack Kassian is expected to be Montreal's enforcer, a role filled by Brandon Prust the last few years, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Analysis: It's ironic that Prust's enforcer role will be handled by Zack Kassian, who was acquired from Vancouver for Prust. It's less ironic when we realize that Kassian is a younger and cheaper version of Prust. Kassian has been skating primarily on the fourth line and is third on the team with 13 minutes in penalties in four preseason games.
    • Kassian Traded To Habs

News: The Canucks traded Zack Kassian and a fifth-round draft pick to the Canadiens on Wednesday in exchange for Brandon Prust, reports.
Analysis: Zack Kassian, who notched 10 goals and 16 points in 42 games with the Canucks this past season to go along with 81 PIM, bolsters the Habs' depth and size up front. His fantasy upside, however, hinges upon whom his 2015-16 linemates end up being, but the 2009 first-rounder still has some untapped potential.
    • Canucks' Kassian Won't Need Back Surgery

News: Zack Kassian will not require offseason surgery to deal with the back issue that kept him out of the Vancouver lineup down the stretch.
Analysis: Zack Kassian, who last suited up on March 14, now has the offseason for his back issue to settle down. In 42 games this past season, he notched 10 goals, 16 points and 81 PIM. He remains under contract with Vancouver next season at a cap hit of of $1.75 million.
    • Canucks' Kassian Skating, Not Practicing

News: Zack Kassian (back) resumed skating on his own last Friday.
Analysis: The winger has yet to receive clearance to practice with the rest of the team, which will prevent him from being unavailable for the start of the Canucks' first-round series with the Flames. Coach Willie Desjardins would likely be loath to make any lineup changes if the Canucks play well in the early stages of the playoffs, so Zack Kassian may have a tough time cracking the forward ranks once he's back at full health.
    • Canucks' Kassian Not Practicing

News: Zack Kassian (back) hasn't resumed practicing with the Canucks, Jim Jamieson of the Vancouver Province reports.
Analysis: Zack Kassian suffered the back injury March 17 and has been limited ever since. At this point, it appears highly doubtful he'll play again during the regular season, and his status for the first round of the playoffs could be in jeopardy as well.
    • Canucks' Kassian Remains Out

News: Zack Kassian (back) is not with the Canucks on their current four-game road trip, the Province reports.
Analysis: Coach Willie Desjardins didn't completely rule Zack Kassian out for the entire trip, but he did confirm that the forward won't play either Monday against the Blues or Tuesday against the Preds.
