• Hat trick in preseason tilt

News: Anton Lander scored three goals on four shots in Tuesday's preseason victory over the Coyotes.
Analysis: The 40th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Anton Lander was very good in limited action last season, totaling six goals and 14 assists in 38 games. He's been a proven scorer in the AHL, scoring 31 points in 29 games there last season, and could be a solid contributor in the Oilers' bottom-six ranks during the upcoming campaign.
  • Lander Producing Steadily For Oilers

News: Anton Lander picked up two assists and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Kings.
Analysis: He's been finding his way onto the scoresheet every other game for the past seven contests, which adds up to a point-per-game pace over that span. Anton Lander's showing a lot of promise for the future, making the Oilers look good for signing him to a team-friendly contract extension.
  • Lander Signs Contract Extension With Edmonton

News: Anton Lander signed a two-year, $1.97 million contract extension with the Oilers on Thursday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander has impressed the Oilers with his play since arriving from AHL Oklahoma City in January. While his totals of six goals and 17 points over 33 games don't jump off the page, Lander has still been a sizable upgrade over prospect Leon Draisaitl as the Oilers' third-line center. Lander can be penciled into that role for the Oilers in 2015-16.
  • Two Assists For Oilers' Lander

News: Anton Lander set up two goals in Monday's 4-1 win over Colorado.
Analysis: Anton Lander has produced at a decent rate when in the lineup this season, posting 17 points in 32 contests (0.53 points per game). He doesn't shoot a ton (48 SOG) and of course owns a minus rating (minus-10), as all but two Oilers that have played more than 25 games are on the negative side of the ledger. The 2009 second-round pick is still just 23, so look for continued development from the Swede next season.
  • Oilers' Lander Collects Two Helpers In Win

News: Anton Lander picked up two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Lnder has played well in limited action this year, posting six goals and nine assists in just 30 games. He's still just 23 years old, so he could be a viable fantasy option in the future if his production continues to trend upward.
  • Oilers' Lander (Shoulder) Will Return Monday

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) will return to the Oilers' lineup Monday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Anton Lander traveled with the team on the road trip, and skated with the team at practice Saturday. The forward was placed on IR on Feb. 20, but finally appears to be ready to return. In 22 games with the Oilers, the 23-year-old has tallied 11 points (four goals, seven assists), adding four penalty minutes and a minus-4 rating.
  • Oilers' Lander Skates With Team Saturday

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) skated on the Oilers' second line at Saturday's practice, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander was filling in for center Derek Roy, who took a maintenance day Saturday. While Lander's participation in practice bodes well for a forthcoming return, interim coach Todd Nelson has ruled the 23-year-old out for Sunday's game in Carolina. Lander could be an option for the second game of the Oilers' back-to-back set Monday in Detroit.
  • Oilers' Lander Closer To A Return

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) will accompany the team on their upcoming road trip, according to the Oilers' web site.
Analysis: Anton Lander is participating in all team drills during practice, but has yet to take any hits. That should be the last hurdle he needs to overcome before returning to the lineup.
  • Oilers' Lander (Shoulder) Skates Monday

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) was on the ice Monday sporting a yellow non-contact jersey, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Anton Lander remains out with a shoulder injury he suffered last Wednesday against the Bruins, but his presence on the ice Monday indicates he is progressing towards a return. He will probably need to get in a full-contact practice or two before returning to the ice, but Tuesday's game can likely be ruled out. His next chance to return will come Friday against the Blackhawks.
  • Oilers Place Lander On IR

News: Anton Lander (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The transaction guarantees that Anton Lander will miss at least the Oilers' next three games, as he's not eligible to come off IR until Feb. 26. The team has yet to provide a projected timetable for Lander's return, so there's a possibility his absence could drag into March or even beyond. With Lander now off the 23-man roster, the Oilers were able to open up a spot for AHL Oklahoma City blueliner Jordan Oesterle.
