Hurricanes' Andrej Nestrasil: Shows up in win

Nestrasil scored with the net empty and also had an assist in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Edmonton. Nestrasil played assertively as his four shots on net represented a season-high. Unfortunately, he's only averaging 11:49 TOI this season and that severely limits his chances to do much with the puck in a given contest. He only has three points in 15 games and that is counting Wednesday's random offensive surge.

Hurricanes' Andrej Nestrasil: Finds twine for first time this year

Nestrasil collected his first goal (and point) of the year Thursday in an overtime loss to Minnesota. At the time, the Czech's opportunistic rebound goal gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead -- at least after the call of goalie interference was reviewed and successfully overturned. Unfortunately, the tally didn't lead to more chances, as he skated eight minutes on the dot and continues to see fourth-line minutes on the rare occasions that he does get into the lineup.

Hurricanes' Andrej Nestrasil: Will return Thursday

Nestrasil (knee) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Islanders, Michelle McMahon of reports. Nestrasil missed each of the last two contests because of the knee issue, but fortunately that absence will come to an end Thursday. He's expected to center the Hurricanes' third line alongside Jeff Skinner and Kris Versteeg in his return to the lineup.

Hurricanes' Andrej Nestrasil: Out Tuesday with knee injury

Nestrasil (knee) will be scratched from Tuesday night's game against the Red Wings, his former team, Dana Wakiji of the Detroit News reports. Nestrasil apparently is still hampered by a left knee injury that he sustained last Friday against the Kings. Without a doubt, the Hurricanes could have used another offensive spark plug in the lineup like Nestrasil, considering they have collected just 14 team goals through eight games. Remember, the Red Wings waived Nestrasil in November of 2014, so this probably was a game that the 24-year-old had circled on his calendar. Now, his next chance to return will be Friday for a home contest against the Senators.

Hurricanes' Andrej Nestrasil: Injures left knee Friday

Nestrail sustained an injury to his left knee Friday night, as he was on the receiving end of a hard slapshot by Kings defenseman Christian Ehrhoff early in the second period, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports. Nestrasil had to be helped off the ice in the eventual win. While the severity of the injury has yet to be announced, there is reason to believe more details should be provided within the next couple of days, but consider him day-to-day until more is revealed. Nestrasil has really struggled this season, having gone without a point in seven games along with a minus-3 rating.

    • Canes' Nestrasil Commits For Two Years

News: Andrej Nestrasil signed a two-year, $1.825 million contract with the Hurricanes on Monday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old split his first NHL season with the Red Wings and Hurricanes, tallying seven goals and 13 assists across 54 games. Andrej Nestrasil, who was claimed off waivers by the Hurricanes on Nov. 20, ended up leading the team in plus/minus rating, and likely would have posted bigger numbers had he not been felled by the injury bug. He could have a shot at claiming a second- or third-line role for the 'Canes in 2015-16.
    • Canes' Nestrasil Struggling To Find Offense

News: Andrej Nestrasil was held off the scoresheet during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Detroit, his seventh consecutive game without a point.
Analysis: Fantasy leaguers may have jumped on the Andrej Nestrasil bandwagon in March after he scored nine points in nine games during the first half of the month. However, he's gone ice cold since then, with just a single point in his last 12 games. Furthermore, he's now seeing just 12-13 minutes of ice time per game, playing on the Canes' third line. He will likely be of little use to you as the team plays out the string.
    • Canes' Nestrasil Stays Hot With Two Points

News: Andrej Nestrasil dished out a pair of assists in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Andrej Nestrasil has continued to see increased ice time, skating for 16:34 in Sunday's win -- over five minutes up from his average since joining the Red Wings. The 24-year-old has been on a great stretch, tallying nine points in his last nine games.
    • Canes' Nestrasil Riding Hot Streak

News: Andrej Nestrasil scored a goal in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars, his seventh point in his past seven games.
Analysis: Andrej Nestrasil, who typically sees 11-12 minutes per game, has been averaging roughly 15-16 minutes over the past few contests since being moved to the Canes' second line alongside Victor Rask and Chris Terry. He makes for a very good fantasy roll right now in medium to deeper leagues.
    • Canes' Nestrasil Caps Big Weekend

News: Andrej Nestrasil set up two goals, attempted three shots, and finished with a plus-2 rating over his 16:24 of ice time in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Andrej Nestrasil's stat line Saturday was nearly identical to his output from the previous night against the Capitals, when he also finished with two assists, a plus-2 rating, and three shots on goal. He had served as a healthy scratch prior to his return to the lineup Friday, but based on his performance over the weekend, he's probably solidified a regular spot on the Canes' third line.
