    • Clears waivers, headed to AHL

News: Richard Panik cleared waivers and will be headed to the AHL Marlies on Wednesday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik was snapped off waivers by the Leafs last season and spent the whole season in the NHL, scoring 11 goals and tallying six assists in 76 games. However, a tough preseason saw Panik clear waivers and will start the season in the AHL. While the Marlies should be a good team this season, Panik will look to make it back to the NHL sooner rather than later for the Leafs.
    • Will he get claimed off waivers by Wednesday aft?

News: Richard Panik was put on waivers Tuesday for the purpose of reassigning him to the AHL, reports the Toronto Sun.
Analysis: Will it be deja vu for the winger, who was grabbed off waivers from Tampa last October? The Leafs needed to make room for the newly-claimed Frank Corrado. Richard Panik's fate will be known Wednesday afternoon.
    • Maple Leafs Sign Panik

News: The Maple Leafs signed Richard Panik to a one-year contract on Wednesday, reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik, who notched 17 points in 76 games with the Maple Leafs after he was claimed off waivers from the Lightning this past October, will reprise his role as a depth forward for Toronto, an assignment that carries modest fantasy upside.
    • Leafs' Panik Gathers Assist Wednesday

News: Richard Panik registered an assist in Wednesday's loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: Richard Panik has been holding down a regular lineup spot for the Leafs throughout the season, but with an average of less than 12 minutes of ice time per game that includes scarcely any power-play time, it's difficult for him to provide scoring with much consistency. Wednesday's game marked the first time he'd tallied a point since March 13.
    • Leafs' Panik Gets 10th Of Season

News: Richard Panik scored a goal Thursday against the Lightning, just hours after being fined $2,000 by the league for diving.
Analysis: He spun and flopped to the ice in Sunday's game against the Caps after defender Mike Green barely nicked his jersey with his stick. Richard Panik had been warned after a similar incident earlier this season. The fine didn't seem to hold him back Thursday, as he delivered his 10th goal of the season.
    • Panik Leads Leafs In Loss

News: Richard Panik scored a goal and added an assist in Toronto's 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Thursday night.
Analysis: He has just 11 points this season, but three have some in his last three games. We're not certain this is a trend, per se, but it does bear watching.
    • Leafs' Panik Nets Power-Play Goal

News: Richard Panik netted his first power-play goal of the season in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Richard Panik ended up skating 2:05 on the man advantage, a surprising development for a player who had only averaged 25 seconds on power-play time heading into Saturday's match. He's seen action on the Leafs' second line in recent games, and if his deployment on the power play continues, he could become an intriguing commodity in deeper formats.
    • Leafs' Panik (Head) To Return Friday

News: Richard Panik (head) will return to the lineup Friday against the Wild.
Analysis: Richard Panik left Saturday's contest after taking a hit to the head against the Panthers. He got in a light skate on Tuesday, but didn't remain on the ice with the rest of the team and missed the game. He will return Friday, and will replace Nazem Kadri (undisclosed) in the lineup.
    • Leafs' Panik Skates Tuesday

News: Richard Panik (head) was able to get in a light skate Tuesday, Jonas Siegel of TSN Radio 1050 reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik didn't remain on the ice for practice with the rest of his teammates, so it wouldn't seem likely that he'll be an option for Wednesday's game against the Bruins. It's assumed that he sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Panthers and has yet to receive clearance to take contact.
    • Leafs' Panik Exits With Expected Concussion

News: Richard Panik left Saturday's game against the Panthers following a hit to the head and will not return, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik, who was elevated to the third line for Sunday's contest, rewarded coach Randy Carlyle's patience with his seventh goal of the season during the second period. However, he would depart shortly thereafter upon taking hte hit at center ice, which may have resulted in a concussion. A further update on Panik's status should come after the game, but at the very least, he would seem doubtful to play Monday in Tampa Bay.
