Blackhawks' Richard Panik: Ends 14-game goal drought

Panik tied the game with a second-period goal during Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Wild. The 25-year-old has just four goals on the season, and isn't a big fantasy producer. However, he was solid against the Wild, putting three shots on goal and delivering three hits in just 11:34 on the ice. The shots are encouraging, as he's got seven in the last two games. Panik's tally was his first since Feb. 2.

Blackhawks' Richard Panik: Will suit up with top unit Monday

Panik will get the opportunity to play on Chicago's first line Monday against the Maple Leafs, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports. Panik is currently bogged down in a five-game scoring drought, but an injury to Marian Hossa (lower body) presents the winger a chance to get his season back on track. In his first five games after being traded to the Blackhawks, the 25-year-old tallied two goals and an assist. However, since then, Panik has netted a lone point in nine outings.

Blackhawks' Richard Panik: Turns on goal light Tuesday

Panik found the back of the net Tuesday, helping the Blackhawks to a 2-1 win over the Avalanche. Panik has scored twice in the past five games but it's worth noting that his playing time has been quite sporadic from one game to the next. The Slovak fell below the 10-minute mark in a pair of games that surrounded 12:15 on the ice against the Panthers on Jan. 22. The unpredictable level of playing time continued Tuesday as he was on the rink for 13:35, the most he's played in nine games this campaign. It's tough for a guy like Panik to establish an offensive rhythm when dealing with such inconsistent playing time so it's best to wait for that to happen before deploying him outside of deep fantasy leagues.

Blackhawks' Richard Panik: Scores goal in back-to-back games

Panik rifled one past the netminder Tuesday against Nashville. Panik has two scores and a helper in five games since being acquired by the Blackhawks. The immediate impact by the 24-year-old shows why Chicago was willing to take a chance on the winger, despite him failing to impress in Toronto and Tampa Bay.

Blackhawks' Richard Panik: Gets first point of season

Panik notched an assist, two shots and a plus-1 rating in 10:12 of ice time Thursday against Montreal. Panik's first point of the year came in just his second NHL game of the season, as he was playing for Toronto's AHL affiliate until the Blackhawks picked him up earlier this month. After he washed out with the Bolts and Leafs, Chicago's now the third organization to take a shot on the Slovakian winger's offensive upside, but it seems unlikely that he's got a big role in his near future.

Blackhawks' Richard Panik: Traded to Blackhawks

Panik was traded to the Blackhawks from the Maple Leafs in exchange for Jeremy Molin on Sunday night. Panik has scored 25 points in 33 games this season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies. He has tallied 39 points across 151 regular-season games in three seasons with the Toronto and Tampa Bay.

  • Clears waivers, headed to AHL

News: Richard Panik cleared waivers and will be headed to the AHL Marlies on Wednesday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik was snapped off waivers by the Leafs last season and spent the whole season in the NHL, scoring 11 goals and tallying six assists in 76 games. However, a tough preseason saw Panik clear waivers and will start the season in the AHL. While the Marlies should be a good team this season, Panik will look to make it back to the NHL sooner rather than later for the Leafs.
  • Will he get claimed off waivers by Wednesday aft?

News: Richard Panik was put on waivers Tuesday for the purpose of reassigning him to the AHL, reports the Toronto Sun.
Analysis: Will it be deja vu for the winger, who was grabbed off waivers from Tampa last October? The Leafs needed to make room for the newly-claimed Frank Corrado. Richard Panik's fate will be known Wednesday afternoon.
  • Maple Leafs Sign Panik

News: The Maple Leafs signed Richard Panik to a one-year contract on Wednesday, reports.
Analysis: Richard Panik, who notched 17 points in 76 games with the Maple Leafs after he was claimed off waivers from the Lightning this past October, will reprise his role as a depth forward for Toronto, an assignment that carries modest fantasy upside.
  • Leafs' Panik Gathers Assist Wednesday

News: Richard Panik registered an assist in Wednesday's loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: Richard Panik has been holding down a regular lineup spot for the Leafs throughout the season, but with an average of less than 12 minutes of ice time per game that includes scarcely any power-play time, it's difficult for him to provide scoring with much consistency. Wednesday's game marked the first time he'd tallied a point since March 13.
