Flyers' Brayden Schenn: Scores power-play goal Monday

Schenn scored his sixth goal of the season on the power play Monday against Carolina. Schenn opened the scoring in a 3-2 win for the Flyers, his fourth game after sitting out as a healthy scratch in their previous date with Carolina. The former fifth overall pick hasn't lived up to expectations but back-to-back 40-point seasons suggests there's still some potential to realize. But until he starts scoring more frequently, it's safe to leave him on the waiver wire.

Flyers' Brayden Schenn: Healthy scratch Saturday

Schenn will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Hurricanes, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports. Flyers bench boss Dave Hakstol explained his rationale behind the decision to make Schenn a healthy scratch. "Brayden has gotten off to a good start and things haven't gone great over the last couple games," Hakstol said. "He's just out for the night." Pierre-Edouard Bellemare reportedly is set to return from a foot/ankle injury, and he figures to be the guy who will replace Schenn in the lineup.

Flyers' Brayden Schenn: Tallies two key goals in losing effort

Schenn scored a pair of third-period goals Tuesday against Buffalo, including one with 54 seconds remaining in the third period with the Flyers' net empty to send the game to overtime. Both goals were of the game-tying variety, in fact, and they represent Schenn's first standout offensive effort of the season. They came from the prime scoring areas you'd like to see the 24-year-old occupy, with Schenn getting right in front of the net on the rush to collect and put home Scott Laughton's pass on the first one, then deflecting Claude Giroux's shot in for the latter tally. It'd still be nice to see him take a step forward in terms of shot rate -- the goals came on the only two shots that he was credited -- but Schenn still owns a ton of upside, and his value in leagues that count hits as well as offensive production can't be overstated.

Flyers' Brayden Schenn: Back to full health

Schenn played in Saturday's overtime win over the Rangers following a one-game absence, skating 16:55 with three shots, two hits and a minor penalty. The Flyers didn't get him back a moment too soon, as they lost Michael Raffl to a head injury Saturday. Schenn's seeing top-unit power-play time either way, but the Raffl injury could lead to him seeing consistent top-six ice time again.

Flyers' Brayden Schenn: Out Wednesday against Boston

Schenn (upper body) will not play Wednesday against the Bruins, Randy Miller of reports. The news comes as a bit of a surprise, as there had been no reports regarding Schenn's injury until he was official ruled out of Wednesday's tilt. Sam Gagner is expected to replace Schenn on Philadelphia's third line Wednesday against the Bruins.

Flyers' Brayden Schenn provides all of the offense in win over Panthers

Flyers forward Brayden Schenn scored the lone goal, his second of the season, of Monday's win over the Panthers. Offense was tough to come by in Philadelphia on Monday, but Schenn was able to beat Roberto Luongo in the game's opening minutes to account for the only goal of the contest. The 24-year-old was also more aggressive toward the net than he had been in the first two games of the year, registering four shots on goal.
