  • Viedensky Will Not Remain With Sharks

News: Marek Viedensky will be a free agent Tuesday after the Sharks did not give him a qualifying offer on Monday.
Analysis: Marek Viedensky has a lot of potential, but doesn't always show up. He looked good at times for AHL Worcester last season, when he scored six goals and 17 assists over 54 games, but didn't produce enough to leave a mark. It was the same story when he played for Team Slovakia at the IIHF World Championships, some flashes of that potential, but never enough to leave an impression. At only 24 and 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, he'll find a home elsewhere on a two-way contract.
  • Sharks' Viedensky Loses Ice Time With Slovakia

News: Marek Viedensky didn't register a point for the third straight game and had his ice time reduced to just 8:06 in a win over Norway at the IIHF World Championships on Wednesday.
Analysis: Marek Viedensky opened the tournament strong for Slovakia, scoring in their opening game. Since then, he's seen a decrease in ice time, starting around 13 minutes and dropping to Wednesday's eight.
  • Sharks' Viedensky Scores For Slovakia

News: Marek Viedensky scored in an upset win over the Czech Republic in the World Championships on Friday, and had a shot and two penalty minutes in Saturday's loss to Canada.
Analysis: Marek Viedensky isn't getting a ton of playing time, averaging about 13:15 per game so far, but he's getting very good experience that may help his chances of landing a spot in the NHL for the 2014-15 season.
  • Sharks' Viedensky Playing For Slovak World Team

News: The Slovak National Team has announced that Marek Viedensky will be playing for his country in Belarus at the 2014 IIHF World Championship.
Analysis: Marek Viedensky spent the entire 2013-14 season in the AHL playing for the Worcester Sharks. During the season he accumulated six goals, 17 assists, and 29 penalty minutes through 54 games. Viedensky is still young and developing, but he's likely to be at camp in San Jose this fall. He should be given a shot at making the team, like he was this season. His chances may be slim, but he's a big forward at 6-3, 210 pounds, which the Sharks have to like.
  • Viedensky Among 11 Players Cut From Sharks Camp

News: Marek Viedensky was one of 11 players the Sharks cut from camp on Tuesday, according to the Sharks' official website.
Analysis: Marek Viedensky was a dark horse candidate to make the team, but the Sharks have a lot of depth on forward and he has a bit of developing to do.
  • Sharks Sign Prospect Viedensky To One-Year Deal

News: Marek Viedensky has signed a one-year contract with San Jose, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Marek Viedensky, a seventh round selection in 2009, is a big forward at 6' 3", 210 pounds. He split time last season between AHL Worcester and the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL. He has 66 career AHL games under his belt, notching nine goals and eight assists in that time. He's becoming a promising prospect, but will likely spend the season developing in the AHL.
