Jets' Anthony Peluso: Makes impact in return to lineup

Peluso made a notable return to the lineup Monday against the St. Louis, dishing out an assist and three hits while finishing with a plus-2 rating. Peluso was a healthy scratch for Winnipeg's prior three games, each of which the Jets lost by a combined score of 18-6. Peluso earned his assist by winning both the race to the puck in the St. Louis corner and the ensuing battle with Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, then leaving the puck in an area for Mathieu Perreault to gather it and feed Bryan Little in the slot. After putting in a spirited performance for a team that has lost six straight (0-5-1), expect Peluso to remain in the Jets lineup for the time being.

    • Peluso Re-Ups With Jets For Two Years

News: Anthony Peluso re-signed Wednesday with the Jets on a two-year, $1.35 million contract, Stephen Whyno of The Canadian Press reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old Anthony Peluso appeared in 49 games with the Jets last season, providing two points, 86 PIM, and 100 hits while skating primarily on the club's fourth line. Peluso will give the Jets some muscle to pair with the scoring talent on their top three lines, but even in specialty leagues, his PIM and hit production doesn't stack up especially well with many of the league's other checking liners.
    • Jets' Peluso Has 32 Game Pointless Streak

News: Anthony Peluso leads NHL skaters with a 32-game pointless streak.
Analysis: "Leads" might be a poor word choice. The fourth-liner is averaging only 5:46 of ice time per game and probably doesn't warrant much -- if any -- fantasy consideration.
    • Jets' Peluso Claims First Goal

News: Anthony Peluso tallied one of five Winnipeg goals in Tuesday's triumph over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The fourth-liner rarely provides points of any variety, so he'll undoubtedly treasure the third goal of his 73-game career. Anthony Peluso is averaging only 5:28 of ice time per game and has often been a healthy scratch this season, making it difficult to count on him even for consistent hit and PIM totals.
    • Jets' Peluso (Upper Body) Activated Sunday

News: Anthony Peluso (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Sunday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Anthony Peluso was cleared to play over a week ago, but now finally appears to be ready as he was activated Sunday. The 25-year-old has just three games under his belt this season, but hasn't recorded a point in an average 6:35 of ice time. He will look to add another notch, which could come Sunday against the Wild.
    • Jets' Peluso (Upper Body) Cleared To Play

News: Anthony Peluso (upper body) was cleared to play Tuesday and is expected to be activated from IR in the near future, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Anthony Peluso was first reported to be dealing with an upper body injury Oct. 23 and was placed on IR a week later. He appears to be finally healthy, and indications seem to be pointing towards him returning to the ice in the near future.
    • Jets' Peluso Close To Returning

News: Anthony Peluso (upper body) is nearing a return, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: Anthony Peluso, who is eligible to be activated from injured reserve whenever he is ready to resume playing, was able to skate Tuesday morning. He is not expected to play Tuesday night against the Jets, but his absence should not stretch much further.
    • Jets Move Peluso To IR

News: Anthony Peluso (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: Anthony Peluso was moved to IR to make roster room for Evander Kane (knee), who will return to the lineup Thursday. Since Peluso first sustained the injury a week ago during practice, he's already missed the seven-day minimum required for every IR stint and will be immediately eligible to return when healthy.
    • Jets' Peluso Likely Out Friday

News: Anthony Peluso (upper body) didn't take part in the Jets' morning skate and looks to be unavailable Friday against the Lightning, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: With Anthony Peluso bound for the press box, Matt Halischuk will step in to fill out the Jets' fourth line. Peluso is still being listed as day-to-day and could be an option for Sunday's tilt with the Avalanche.
    • Jets' Peluso Nursing Upper-Body Injury

News: Anthony Peluso missed Thursday's practice with what was described as a minor upper-body injury, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.
Analysis: While it doesn't look like the ailment is serious enough to result in a move to injured reserve for Anthony Peluso, he could still be forced out of Friday's game against the Lightning. Since Peluso's a fourth-liner who averages only 6:35 of ice time per game, the Jets wouldn't lose much by swapping him out for Matt Halischuk for a game or two.
