    • Cut from training camp roster

News: Zach Sill was released from the training camp roster on Friday, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Zach Sill will need to clear waivers, but is expected to be assigned to AHL Hershey in the next day or so. Signed to a one-year, two-way deal in July, Sill's physical presence will probably earn him another chance at a roster spot at some point during the season, but even then he doesn't possess enough offensive upside to be considered fantasy relevant outside of deeper leagues that emphasize hits and penalty minutes.
    • Sill Inks One-Year Deal With Capitals

News: Zach Sill signed a one-year (two-way) contract with the Capitals on Wednesday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Zach Sill will provide Washington with some much-needed organizational depth at forward. He tallied four points in 63 NHL contests in 2014-15. He will likely spend time in both the AHL and NHL this season, and will assume a bottom-six role when suiting up with the big club.
    • Leafs' Sill Returns Saturday

News: Zach Sill (undisclosed) returned to the lineup Saturday against the Senators, logging three hits and one shot attempt over 8:49 of ice time.
Analysis: Zach Sill missed only one game on account of the injury and replaced Brandon Kozun on the Leafs' fourth line.
    • Toronto's Sill Practices Friday

News: Zach Sill (undisclosed) took part in Friday's practice, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: Zach Sill missed Thursday's game against the Panthers due to the injury, but his presence to practice suggests a long-term absence was off the table. With Greg McKegg heading back to AHL Toronto and Sam Carrick missing Friday's practice due to family reasons, there could be room in the lineup Saturday against the Senators to accommodate the returns of Sill and Trevor Smith (undisclosed).
    • Leafs' Sill Likely Out Thursday

News: Zach Sill (undisclosed injury) was not spotted at Thursday's morning skate, Jonas Siegel of TSN 1050 reports.
Analysis: The same applies to fellow forward Trevor Smith, which likely paves the way for Greg McKegg to suit up for the Leafs on Thursday against the Panthers.
    • Leafs' Sill Banged Up

News: Zach Sill missed Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed injury and is uncertain to play Thursday against the Panthers, Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun reports.
Analysis: Coach Peter Horachek relayed that Zach Sill is still a bit "banged up" from Monday's game against the Wild. The Maple Leafs will check back in on the fourth liner's condition Thursday morning before deciding if he'll be ready to play later in the evening.
    • Pens Deal Sill To Leafs

News: The Penguins traded Zach Sill and two future draft picks to the Maple Leafs on Wednesday in exchange for forward Daniel Winnik.
Analysis: Zach Sill amounts as just a throw-in to the deal for the Leafs, who were likely just trying to fill a roster spot after giving up Winnik. Even so, Sill should still receive a look on the Leafs' fourth line, where he should continue to provide plenty of PIM and hits, but little else.
    • Pens' Sill Sees Another Milestone Wednesday

News: Zach Sill scored his first goal in the NHL on Wednesday against Chicago.
Analysis: He tallied his first NHL assist Jan. 14, making his trophy case a little bit more crowded. That said, Zach Sill has limited offensive talent -- as evidenced by his two-point output in 52 career games -- and is more of a grinder with 48 PIM and 82 hits in 32 games this season.
    • Pens' Sill Gets First Career Point

News: Zach Sill recorded an assist in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Wild, marking the first point of his NHL career.
Analysis: It took a whopping 48 games for Zach Sill to accomplish the feat. The fourth-liner is one of the Pens' more willing hitters and picks up PIM at a decent rate, but his utter lack of scoring makes it difficult to roster him even in specialty formats.
    • Pens' Sill (Upper Body) To Return Wednesday

News: Zach Sill (upper body) will be activated from IR and play in Wednesday's game against the Bruins.
Analysis: After an absence of nearly a month, Zach Sill will draw back in on the Pens' fourth line while taking on an increased role on the team's penalty kill. These duties won't lend themselves to much fantasy utility, however, as Sill is still without a point in 25 games this season.
