Oilers' Rob Klinkhammer: Placed on injured reserve Wednesday

Klinkhammer (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Klinkhammer suffered the injury in Tuesday's tilt against the Wild after he was hit into the boards by one of Minnesota's defenseman and awkwardly landed on his left knee. The Oilers recalled Tyler Pitlick on Wednesday, who will occupy Klinkhammer's spot on Edmonton's 23-man roster until he's healthy. Klinkhammer will be eligible to return to game action Nov. 6 against the Penguins.

Oilers' Rob Klinkhammer: Leaves Tuesday's game with lower body injury

Klinkhammer left Tuesday's game with a lower body injury and will not return, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports. Klinkhammer was hit into the boards by one of the Wild's defenseman and looked to have awkwardly landed on his left knee. It's currently unclear how severe of an injury it is, but he'll have to take the rest of the night off. Until we hear more on the injury, consider him questionable for Thursday's outing with the Canadiens.

Oilers' Rob Klinkhammer: Skating on top line in practice

Klinkhammer skated on the top line with Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in practice Thursday, TSN's Ryan Rishaug reports. While the newly recalled Andrew Miller was considered to be on the first line entering Wednesday's game, he ended up playing just 8:28 in that contest. Klinkhammer was still stuck in third-line duties, but he'll have a golden opportunity to get his first points of the year if he retains the assignment for Friday's game against Washington.

    • Oilers' Klinkhammer Pots Goal In Win

News: Rob Klinkhammer potted his fifth goal of the season in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: The goal ended an 11 game pointless streak and was the first time finding the back of the net in 32 games dating back to Dec. 12. With just nine points, there's not much here from a fantasy perspective even in deeper formats.
    • Klinkhammer Back In For Oilers On Friday

News: Rob Klinkhammer (paternity) was on the ice for the Oilers' morning skate and will be back in the lineup Friday against the Wild, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Rob Klinkhammer missed the Oilers' previous two games while awaiting the birth of his first child. After taking some time to be with the newborn -- and inking a one-year extension with the Oilers -- Klinkhammer will reclaim a spot on the team's fourth line, joining Matt Hendricks and Boyd Gordon.
    • Klinkhammer Re-Ups With Oilers For Another Year

News: Rob Klinkhammer (paternity) agreed to a one-year, $725,000 extension with the Oilers on Friday, Bob Stauffer of 630 CHED reports.
Analysis: Rob Klinkhammer, who has missed the Oilers' previous two games while on paternity leave, has spent time with three different teams this season. Though his production with Edmonton (no goals, two assists in 18 games) hasn't been noteworthy, the team seems satisfied with the toughness he's supplied on the team's fourth line. The new contract should give him some further security in that role.
    • Oilers' Klinkhammer To Remain Out Wednesday

News: Rob Klinkhammer (personal) will remain out of the lineup Wednesday against the Bruins, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Rob Klinkhammer will miss his second straight game as he takes time off to be with his newborn child. Matt Hendricks is expected to replace him on the Oilers' fourth line. Klinkhammer's next chance to play will come Friday against the Wild.
    • Klinkhammer Out Monday For Edmonton

News: Rob Klinkhammer (personal) won't play Monday for the Oilers.
Analysis: Rob Klinkhammer has left the team to await the birth of his first child. We wish nothing but the best for him and his expanding family.
    • Oilers' Klinkhammer Picks Up Assist, Seven PIM

News: Rob Klinkhammer gathered an assist and picked up seven PIM in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Rob Klinkhammer has spent time with three teams this season and hasn't offered much fantasy utility in any of the destinations. In primarily a bottom-six role split between the Coyotes, Penguins and Oilers, Klinkhammer has been limited to just four goals, four assists and 17 PIM over 43 games.
    • Pens Deal Klinkhammer To Oilers

News: Rob Klinkhammer was traded to the Oilers on Friday along with a 2015 first-round draft choice in exchange for forward David Perron, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: The first-round pick in one of the deepest drafts in years is the clear get here for the Oilers, as Rob Klinkhammer doesn't project as much more than a bottom-six forward. With only three points in his 10 games with Pittsburgh, Klinkhammer struggled to attain the fantasy relevance many had hoped for when he was dealt there earlier in December by the Coyotes. The move to a dreadful Edmonton squad will only sink his value further.
