Wild's Nino Niederreiter: Dynamic in win over Isles

Niederreiter had one of his best games in the NHL against the Isles on Tuesday, scoring a power-play goal on a career-high eight shots and adding an assist. There's no doubt that El Nino had some extra motivation for this one against the franchise that picked him No. 5 overall in 2010, then damaged his development and shipped him out of town during the 2013 offseason. He's certainly found a home in Minnesota, but Tuesday's dynamic version of Niederreiter hasn't often been on display this year -- incredibly, those eight shots he took Tuesday are actually one more than he totaled in seven games leading up to the All-Star break. We'll soon learn whether this was a one-off in a revenge game or the start of bigger things for the Swiss winger when he gets back in action Thursday against the Rangers.

Wild's Nino Niederreiter: Picks up helper Monday

Niederreiter delivered a primary assist in Monday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Coyotes. With that helper, Niederreiter reached 14 assists on the season while eclipsing his total from 2014-15. El Nino is storming toward a 36-point pace this campaign but the Wild have not fully unleashed him on the power play as he's averaging just 1:37 in such situations.

Wild's Nino Niederreiter: Skating full speed despite apparent tightness

Niederreiter reportedly left practice Tuesday after experiencing (undisclosed) "tightness," but skated at full speed during a workout Wednesday, according to Rachel Blount of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Niederreiter's participation in the fast-paced workout bodes well for his chances of lacing up for Thursday's home contest against the winless Blue Jackets. A fifth overall draft selection in 2010, Niederreiter has two goals for his only points through five games.

Wild RW Nino Niederreiter Scores in third period of win

Wild winger Nino Niederreiter scored his first goal of the season in Thursday's opener against Colorado. Niederreiter gathered Jason Zucker's feed in front of the net and sent a shot past Semyon Varlamov for the Wild's third goal of the third period. He was featured on the second line with Zucker and veteran center Mikko Koivu, which could boost his scoring output this season.
