Canucks' Emerson Etem: Starting to make an impression in Vancouver

Etem scored an assist, his first as a Canuck, in a 3-2 overtime loss Tuesday. The assist came against Etem's former team, the Rangers, which caps off a night in which he played 15:51, the most in five games with Vancouver. United with former WHL Medicine Hat team mate Linden Vey, Etem seems to have found a comfort zone in Vancouver, something that eluded him in New York. Given Vancouver's injuries and the team's mandate to get younger, Etem should remain a fixture in the Canucks lineup. He's a medium-upside player who's worth picking up if he gets hot, but his potential may not come to fruition this season.

Canucks' Emerson Etem: Traded from Rangers to Canucks

Etem was traded from the Rangers to the Canucks on Friday. Etem drew into 19 games with the Rangers this season, but recorded just three assists over that frame and failed to find the net. He'll now move to the Canucks in exchange for Nicklas Jensen in a sixth round pick, and perhaps a change of scenery will provide the former first round pick the jump-start he needs.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Will begin conditioning stint

Etem will be sent down to AHL Hartford for a conditioning stint Friday. Head coach Alain Vigneault indicated that Etem wouldn't have cracked the Rangers' lineup at any point this weekend, so he will be sent down to play three games in Hartford. The former first-round pick has been an enormous disappointment in New York, scoring just three points (all assists) in 19 contests.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Etem not seizing the opportunity

Etem has three points (all assists) in 19 games played this season. With Kevin Hayes currently in hot water with head coach Alain Vigneault, Etem (minus-4) has been seeing more consistent ice time with the team's third line. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old has been held off the scorer's sheet for five straight contests. While the young forward has promise, he just hasn't shown any during game action, leaving him completely irrelevant to fantasy owners in any format.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Healthy scratch Thursday

Etem will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's game against Colorado, Andrew Gross of The Record reports. Etem didn't play Wednesday against the Islanders due to illness, but returned to practice Thursday, and has reportedly fully recovered from the ailment. However, he won't draw back into the Rangers' lineup for Thursday's contest, as head coach Alain Vigneault will opt to stick with Tanner Glass instead. Etem's next opportunity to return to New York's lineup will come Sunday against the Senators.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Unable to play Wednesday

Etem will not suit up for Wednesday's game against the Islanders due to an undisclosed illness, Brian Compton of NHL.com reports. Etem has just two assists in 10 games for the Rangers this season, while averaging less than 12 minutes of ice time in those contests. The Rangers recalled Tanner Glass to fill his roster spot Wednesday.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Will draw into Friday's contest against Boston

Etem will be in the lineup against the Bruins on Friday afternoon. The Rangers often deploy Etem when they need a speedster in the lineup. With the Blueshirts facing a tough offensive foe in the Bruins on Friday, they'll look to take advantage of that breakaway speed, even though Etem is likely bound for bottom-six minutes.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Tallies assist in limited ice time

Etem picked up an assist, but played a team-low 9:31 in Tuesday's win over the Hurricanes. The young winger has suited up in three straight games after sitting out nine of the first 12, but he's still skating very limited minutes, which prevents him from making a big impact. Etem does still have long-term upside, though, and he's in a good place to learn how to play winning hockey without being overexposed.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: Collects his first point with Rangers

Etem logged his first assist of the season in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Flames. Obviously, with just two under his belt with the team, that's the first point of his Rangers career as well. With Viktor Stalberg (upper body) sitting Etem cracked the lineup for the second time in a week. While the young winger has some promise, he would have to really turn heads before he'll earn anything other than fourth line minutes. Watch from a distance fantasy owners.

Rangers' Emerson Etem: To debut with Rangers on Thurday

Etem will make his Rangers debut on the fourth line Thursday night against the Canadiens, Andrew Gross of The Record reports. Etem came to the Blueshirts via an offseason trade with the Ducks, while Carl Hagelin landed in Anaheim. His insertion on the fourth line will limit his offensive opportunities.
