Devils' Jacob Josefson: Will return Tuesday

Josefson (lower body) will play Thursday night against the visiting Senators, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Josefson made it through practice earlier in the week and now gets the green light Thursday after missing the past 11 games with the lower-body ailment. As noted in the report, the team has yet to announce who will draw out of the lineup in favor of Josefson, who's averaging 15:29 of ice time including 2:22 with the man advantage.

Devils' Jacob Josefson: Expected to rejoin lineup Thursday

Josefson (lower body) is expected to rejoin the lineup for Thursday's game against the Senators, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Josefson has been sidelined since Dec. 30 because of the lower-body issue, but practiced with the team for the first time since then Monday. Barring something unforeseen, the forward should return to the lineup Thursday, and is expected to be on a line with Reid Boucher and Sergey Kalinin.

Devils' Jacob Josefson: Returns to practice Monday

Josefson practiced for the first time Monday since suffering a lower-body injury in late December, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Josefson shared that he's dealing with a bone bruise in his left foot, and while his presence at practice Monday is certainly a step in the right direction, he won't play Tuesday. The team should continue to provide updates on his status as he nears a return, but no firm timetable has been placed on him yet.

Devils' Jacob Josefson: Goes on IR with lower-body injury

Josefson was placed on injured reserve Monday with a lower-body injury, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports. Josefson will be eligible to rejoin the team for Saturday's game at the earliest, but it seems likely the team wouldn't have placed him on injured reserve if he was expected to play. The team should provide further updates as the 24-year-old Swede closes in on a return.

Devils' Jacob Josefson: Tallies another assist in Tuesday's win

Josefson made a crisp pass to set up Travis Zajac's second-period goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win against the Coyotes. Josefson flashed the offensive skill that we've seen very little of in his career, finding Zajac on a two-on-one break to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. He skated 13:52, was a plus-1 and won 5-of-9 faceoffs. Josefson is getting consistent work on special teams with 2:26 on the man advantage and 2:18 on the kill. He's still finding his way in an increased role this season, but showed his potential Tuesday. It's may be wise to add him to your watch list in deeper leagues.

Devils' Jacob Josefson: Assists on lone goal in Tuesday's loss

Josefson assisted on the Devils' lone goal, his first point of the season, in Tuesday's loss to Nashville. Josefson got the secondary assist on Kyle Palmieri's power-play goal late in the third period. The former first-round pick has much to prove in his sixth season in New Jersey. Josefson skated 16:28, including 2:05 on the man advantage while finishing minus-1 on the night. There's plenty of opportunity for playing time on the Devils, so if Josefson can continue to produce, he could be worth a pick up in deeper leagues.

  • Devils' Josefson Pots Game-Winner

News: Jacob Josefson was the only man to beat either goalie Tuesday in a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: His fifth goal of the year came against Penguins backup Thomas Greiss, and the game's only other goal was Adam Henrique's empty-netter. Jacob Josefson now owns a quite modest 10 points in 50 games on the season, which actually ties his career high. At 24 years old, he may have some upside yet, but it may be that he'll need a change of scenery before he realizes it, as New Jersey has not been a very productive place for him.
  • Devils' Josefson Picks Up Assist Friday

News: Jacob Josefson picked up an assist in Friday's loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Since returning from injured reserve Jan. 19 with a two-point performance against the Sharks, Jacob Josefson has needed 15 games just to match that output. His presence as the Devils' center on the checking line will continue to inhibit his offense.
  • Shorty Plus An Assist For Devils' Josefson

News: Jacob Josefson potted a goal -- a shorthanded tally -- and dished out an assist in 10:42 of ice time as the Devils downed the Sharks by a 5-2 count on Monday.
Analysis: The points bring his season total from three to five in 27 games this year, suggesting that the mini-outburst is more of a one-off performance than an indication of an upward trend for the fifth-year NHLer.
  • Devils Activate Josefson (Illness) From IR

News: Jacob Josefson (illness) was activated from injured reserve Friday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The activation more than likely indicates that Jacob Josefson will rejoin the lineup Friday against the Islanders after missing the previous six games. He's expected to center the checking line for the Devils.
