    • Panthers' Kampfer Back In Thursday

News: Steven Kampfer (groin) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Maple Leafs, Steve Goldstein of FOX Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: The groin injury cost Steven Kampfer the previous three games. He's slated to skate alongside Dmitry Kulikov on the Cats' third defensive pairing.
    • Panthers' Kampfer Nursing A Groin Injury

News: Steven Kampfer will sit out Tuesday's game against the Lightning with a groin injury, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer hasn't played in the Panthers' previous two games due to what was believed to be tactical reasons, but it seems likely he's been nursing the injury throughout that period of time. On a fortunate note, it does sound like he is progressing with the injury, so he'll be regarded as day-to-day in advance of Thursday's tilt with the Maple Leafs. Alex Petrovic will fill in for Kampfer for the third straight game.
    • Panthers' Kampfer Inks Extension

News: Steven Kampfer signed a two-year extension with the Panthers on Saturday.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer has held down a regular role on the Panthers' blue line since being called up from AHL San Antonio in early February. While he's only produced three points in 18 games, the Panthers seem to be pleased with the work he's done on his own end of the defensive end, where he's averaging two hits and more than a blocked shot. Expect him to hold down a third-pairing role for the club the rest of the season.
    • Panthers' Kampfer Grabs Assist In Loss Tuesday

News: Steven Kampfer picked up his second assist of the season on Tuesday while posting a plus-2 against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer was coming off three straight games posting a negative plus/minus so this game is certainly a step in the right direction. His three points in 11 games is a little off the pace he was at in the AHL, where he had eight goals and 11 assists in 42 games. Kampfer should grow into a top-four defenseman, but is not quite there yet. Kampfer has limited fantasy value for now, but has shown the ability to play both ways and could come on strong in the home-stretch of the season.
    • Florida's Kampfer Scores First Of Season

News: Steven Kampfer was credited with his first goal of the year Thursday, notching the game-tying tally in a shootout win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: With only two points in eight games, Steven Kampfer hasn't made a huge offensive impact for Florida, and there's no reason to think that he'll parlay this into any kind of sustained production.
    • Panthers Recall Defenseman Kampfer

News: Steven Kampfer was recalled from AHL San Antonio on Thursday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer tallied eight goals and 11 helpers in 42 games this season in the minors, and will now get his chance to contribute at the highest level. The 26-year-old hasn't seen NHL action since 2011-12 with the Wild, and will likely be used primarily as defensive depth.
    • Panthers Acquire Kampfer

News: The Panthers acquired Steven Kampfer from the Rangers on Monday.
Analysis: The Panthers also acquired Andrew Yogan in the trade, and sent back Joey Crabb in exchange. Steven Kampfer is expected to spend the season with AHL San Antonio.
    • Rangers Place Kampfer On Waivers

News: The Rangers placed Steven Kampfer on waivers on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: The last time Steven Kampfer played in the NHL was the 2011-2012 season. He scored six goals and 20 assists with AHL Iowa last season. The Rangers already have a solid core of defensemen so Kampfer will not see much time in the NHL this season, unless New York is plagued with injuries.
    • Rangers Add Kampfer To AHL Ranks

News: Steven Kampfer signed a two-way contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer spent all of 2013-14 with AHL Iowa in the Wild organization, posting six goals and 20 assists over 69 games. The 25-year-old will provide a depth role for the Rangers, but isn't likely to gain an extended opportunity with the parent club.
    • Wild Send Kampfer Back To AHL Iowa

News: Steven Kampfer was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Saturday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer was simply up the fill the practice gaps until the Olympians returned home. He'll head back to Iowa and patiently await his next call-up.
