Analysis: Steven Kampfer hasn't played in the Panthers' previous two games due to what was believed to be tactical reasons, but it seems likely he's been nursing the injury throughout that period of time. Alex Petrovic will fill in for Kampfer for the third straight game.
  • Panthers' Kampfer Inks Extension

News: Steven Kampfer signed a two-year extension with the Panthers on Saturday.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer has held down a regular role on the Panthers' blue line since being called up from AHL San Antonio in early February. While he's only produced three points in 18 games, the Panthers seem to be pleased with the work he's done on his own end of the defensive end, where he's averaging two hits and more than a blocked shot. Expect him to hold down a third-pairing role for the club the rest of the season.
  • Panthers' Kampfer Grabs Assist In Loss Tuesday

News: Steven Kampfer picked up his second assist of the season on Tuesday while posting a plus-2 against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Steven Kampfer was coming off three straight games posting a negative plus/minus so this game is certainly a step in the right direction. His three points in 11 games is a little off the pace he was at in the AHL, where he had eight goals and 11 assists in 42 games. Kampfer should grow into a top-four defenseman, but is not quite there yet. Kampfer has limited fantasy value for now, but has shown the ability to play both ways and could come on strong in the home-stretch of the season.
  • Florida's Kampfer Scores First Of Season

News: Steven Kampfer was credited with his first goal of the year Thursday, notching the game-tying tally in a shootout win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: With only two points in eight games, Steven Kampfer hasn't made a huge offensive impact for Florida, and there's no reason to think that he'll parlay this into any kind of sustained production.

Analysis: The last time Steven Kampfer played in the NHL was the 2011-2012 season. He scored six goals and 20 assists with AHL Iowa last season. The Rangers already have a solid core of defensemen so Kampfer will not see much time in the NHL this season, unless New York is plagued with injuries.
