Coyotes' Anders Lindback: Probable goalie starter Saturday

Lindback is expected to start between the pipes Saturday night against the Jets since goalie teammate Mike Smith is dealing with a lower-body injury, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. Smith is officially listed as questionable for the road contest, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Coyotes go the safe route and play Lindback instead. Lindback has a 2-3-0 record, 2.41 GAA and .915 save percentage through three starts and six appearances in all.

Coyotes' Anders Lindback: Lit up in road loss to Islanders

Lindback was roughed up for four goals on 31 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Islanders on Monday. The fifth was an empty-netter. Lindback failed to impress in his sixth appearance of the season, getting torched for three goals in the third period. Although veteran starter Mike Smith has been pretty bad with a 3.10 GAA and .901 save percentage through 15 appearances, Lindback still figures to be a distant second fiddle between the pipes in the desert unless he's able to get hot and string together consecutive strong outings.

Coyotes' Anders Lindback: Draws Monday's start

Lindback has received the starting nod for Monday's tilt with the Islanders, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. The giant Swede has been fantastic in five appearances this season, posting a 1.99 goals against average and a .928 save percentage. Lindback showed great promise playing as Pekka Rinne's backup in Nashville during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, but regressed after being traded to Tampa prior to the 2012-13 season. Lindback looks to have been revitalized in Arizona playing under head coach Dave Tippett's tight-checking system, and on Monday faces a team that has scored just 2.00 goals per game over their last seven.

Coyotes' Anders Lindback: Stops 17 shots in relief effort

Lindback made 17 saves on 19 shots in relief of Mike Smith Friday against Vancouver. It was just the third appearance of the season for Lindback, who was credited with the loss. He won't see much action behind Mike Smith, but his .935 save percentage is impressive. Keep in mind though that he's only faced 62 shots, so it'll likely drop once he sees more action. After posting a .924 save percentage last season with the Sabres, Lindback can be seen as a decent backup option this season in Arizona.

Coyotes' Anders Lindback: Makes 35 saves in first start of the season

Lindback made 35 saves in his first start of the season to help the Coyotes to a 4-1 win over the Senators on Saturday night. Hmmm ... could it be the Sean Burke effect? The Yotes' goalie coach has a way of building up big, but broken twinetenders and Lindback could be his next success. Arizona could have a nice problem on their hands if Burke is successful yet again, so put Lindback on your radar.

Coyotes' Anders Lindback: In line to start Saturday

Lindback was the first goalie off the ice in the morning skate and appears set to be the starting goalie Saturday night against the Senators, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. Puck blocker Mike Smith was the recepient of the first seven starts for the Coyotes, but the team should give backup Lindback the starting nod Saturday for the first time this season. Lindback did make a relief appearance on Oct. 15, stopping six of seven shots through 31:23 TOI in a loss to the Wild.

    • Lindback Signs With Coyotes

News: Anders Lindback signed a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Coyotes on Wednesday, reports.
Analysis: Anders Lindback, who has posted a career .905 save percentage and 2.83 goals against average in 111 NHL appearances to date, is now in line to back up Mike Smith next season. In his new team context, Lindback figures to be a hit-or-miss fanasy option when he is called upon by the Coyotes to start.
    • Sabres' Lindback: 36 Saves In Loss

News: Anders Lindback made 36 saves in a 2-0 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Analysis: He earned the game's third star for his efforts -- he really stood on his head at times. It's interesting that his numbers (GAA and save percentage) in sad-sack Buffalo (2.81, .923) are significantly better than what he delivered in supposedly-better Dallas this season (3.71, .875). We're not sure what it bodes for his future, as the Sabres will be bad for a few more years. But he does have some potential.
    • Sabres Go With Lindback In Finale

News: Anders Lindback will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Penguins.
Analysis: Matt Hackett was a candidate to draw a start for the season finale, but since he has only recently recovered from a bout with knee soreness, the Sabres decided it was for the best to stick with Anders Lindback a second straight night. The loss to the Blue Jackets on Friday guaranteed that the Sabres would finish with the league's worst record, so there's plenty of incentive for Lindback and his mates to turn in a competitive performance Saturday, especially if it means preventing the visiting Penguins from reaching the playoffs. That being said, the Sabres don't match up favorably with the Penguins in the talent department, which will most likely force Lindback to end the season on a losing note.
