    • Islanders Acquire Simpson In Leddy Deal

News: The Blackhawks traded Kent Simpson and defenseman Nick Leddy to the Islanders on Saturday in exchange for three prospects, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Kent Simpson amounts as just a throw-in to the deal, after his prospect stock sank following an ugly showing for AHL Rockford last season (3.64 GAA, .891 save percentage in 31 games). He's expected to split time with Kevin Poulin at AHL Bridgeport in 2014-15.
    • Hawks Reassign Simpson

News: The Blackhawks reassigned Kent Simpson to AHL Rockford on Thursday.
Analysis: The Blackhawks never planned on bringing the 21-year-old goaltender up this season, but injuries to Corey Crawford and Nikolai Khabibulin forced them to use him as Antta Raanta's backup. He'll be replaced on the roster by veteran Jason LaBarbera.
    • Hawks' Simpson Makes NHL Debut In Relief

News: Kent Simpson saw his first minutes in the NHL on Saturday in the Blackhawks' 7-3 loss at Toronto while allowing two goals on nine shots on goal in one period of play.
Analysis: Kent Simpson came in the third period after Antti Raanta was pulled after two periods and giving up five goals. The Blackhawks come right back Sunday night and the starting goalie will probably not be known until before game time, but it is expected that Hawks' coach Joel Quenneville will probably go back to Raanta. Also, the Blackhawks recently picked up veteran goalie Jason LaBarbera. While LaBarbera was optioned to Rockford of the AHL, Simpson could see his time with the Blackhawks ending soon as they could very well bring LaBarbera up soon.
    • Blackhawks' Simpson Recalled Monday

News: Kent Simpson was recalled from AHL Rockford on Monday, the Chicago Tribune's Chris Kuc reports.
Analysis: Kent Simpson gets his first call-up of the season, after Corey Crawford suffered a lower-body injury during Sunday's game. As the owner of a 3.38 GAA and .900 save percentage with AHL Rockford this season, Simpson may struggle in the NHL, if he sees any playing time. The 21-year-old Canadian netminder has yet to appear in an NHL game.
    • Simpson Filling In For Raanta At Rockford

News: Kent Simpson made 41 saves in AHL Rockford's 4-3 win over the Texas Stars on Saturday, the Icehogs' official website reports.
Analysis: Kent Simpson has replaced Rockford starting goalie Antti Raanta, who left the team's opener with a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old has been busy in the team's first two games, as he's made 90 saves. Raanta is considered day-to-day; Rockford's next game is on Friday, and the 21-year-old Simpson could get another chance to make a name for himself in net if the Finnish import isn't good to go.
    • Simpson Assigned By Blackhawks to Rockford

News: Kent Simpson was assigned by the Blackhawks to Rockford of the AHL on Monday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Kent Simpson will be looking to get playing time at Rockford against Antti Raanta and Mac Carruth to start the season. He was in goal for two games for Rockford last season, but spent his first pro season mainly with Toledo of the ECHL. Simpson had a good season with Toledo with a .912 save percentage and 2.36 goals against average in 41 games.
    • Chicago Signs Simpson To Entry-Level Contract

News: Kent Simpson has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Chicago, the Blackhawks' official website reports.
Analysis: Kent Simpson, who made his professional debut with AHL-Rockford in 2012, spent the majority of 2012 with the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips. He registered a 20-31-7 record with a .909 save percentage in 60 regular-season appearances.
