Senators' Patrick Wiercioch: Sitting out Saturday

Wiercioch (upper body) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Flyers, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. Wiercioch left Thursday's game against the Blue Jackets with an undisclosed upper-body injury and did not return. While the Senators have not confirmed that he suffered a head injury, that seems like the most likely scenario, so it's possible he could miss multiple games. Regardless, Wiercioch will not take the ice Saturday.

Senators' Patrick Wiercioch: Assist in win

Wiercioch notched a power play assist in Saturday's win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wiercioch earned a spot on the second line in his fifth season with the Senators. The 25-year-old defenseman has been valued as the safety and does not take offensive risks jumping up on a rush. However, being on the second line and getting ice on the power play could translate into consistent points as the season progresses.
