Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Could be out until March

Bobrovsky (groin) apparently is not making much progress in his rehab. Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella told Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch, "I don't think you'll see him until March. Have to get him right." Bobrovsky is trying to work his way back from a groin injury for the third time this season, with the latest setback reportedly considered a small aggravation. Anton Forsberg and Joonas Korpisalo are the healthy netminders on the Blue Jackets' roster but both are rookies tasked with trying to keep the team competitive despite ranking dead last in the league with 43 points. Between Bobrovsky's injury woes and the team struggling mightily for wins, it's advisable to look at other options if you need goalie help in the fantasy realm.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Latest groin injury not considered serious

Although there's no timetable yet for Bobrovsky's return from his third groin injury of the season, Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen indicated Sunday that it was just a small aggravation of his previous injury, The Columbus Dispatch reports. "This is not a... if you have a major tear, you're out 6-8 weeks. This is not a major tear. But obviously now that there's been a little tear twice now, after his bigger one, we're going to make sure," Kekalainen said. The club is sending Bobrovsky to a different specialist this week in case team doctors have missed something, but at this point the Jackets still seem confident that their franchise goaltender can return and be fully healthy in the second half.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Lands on injured reserve

Bobrovsky (groin) was placed on injured reserve Friday, and is out indefinitely. Bobrovsky returned to action Tuesday after missing the Jackets' previous 17 games with a groin injury, and didn't play well, surrendering five goals on 27 shots en route to a 6-3 loss to Washington. In Thursday's matchup with the Flames, Bob's second game back from injury, the 27-year-old netminder allowed two goals on just 13 shots before re-aggravating the groin injury that has bothered him for much of this season. The Russian goaltender is now listed as out indefinitely, which doesn't come as a much of a surprise, as it's clear he wasn't given enough time to fully recover from his groin ailment before being slotted back into the lineup on Jan. 19. Expect an update on Bobrovsky's status once he's able to return to the ice.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Leaves with lower-body injury

Bobrovsky exited Thursday's game with a lower-body injury and will not return. It's unclear what exactly caused Bobrovsky's departure, but it will cost him the remainder of Thursday's contest at a minimum. Joonas Korpisalo replaced him between the pipes, and would presumably take over the primary duties in goal should Bobrovsky miss extended time. His next chance to return to the crease comes Saturday against the Bruins, but the team should provide another update on his status before then.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Will start in net Tuesday

Bobrovsky will start between the posts Tuesday night against the Flames. Bobrovsky was shelled by Washington this past Tuesday, allowing five goals on 27 shots, following a 17-game layoff due to a groin injury. However, goals have been elusive for the Flames, Bobrovsky's next opponent, as they've lit the lamp just three times in the last two contests and are relatively weak on the road at 6-12-3.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Struggles in return

Bobrovsky allowed five goals on 27 shots in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Capitals. Bobrovsky suited up for the first time in 17 games after being placed on IR with a groin injury, and he certainly looked rusty. Four of the Caps goals came on their first nine shots against Bobrovsky, but the Jackets stuck with their net minder, and he looked better the rest of the way. He'll try to bounce back Thursday if he gets the start against the Flames.

Bobrovsky will start in net Tuesday night against the Capitals. Bobrovsky will be making his first start since Dec. 8, when he had sustained an upper-body injury. Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Activated off injured reserve Friday

Bobrovsky (groin) was activated off injured reserve Friday. Bobrovsky has been sidelined with a groin injury since Dec. 10, but returned to practice with his teammates Tuesday, which was the first indication that the 27-year-old netminder is likely on the verge of returning to action. Bobrovsky could be back between the pipes as soon as Saturday against Colorado.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Not expected back from groin injury this week

Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said after Tuesday's game that he didn't expect Bobrovsky (groin) to return to the lineup until at least next week, the Columbus Dispatch reports. That would rule him out not only for Wednesday's game in Toronto but also Saturday's home tilt against Colorado. The Jackets are almost at the point where they are just playing for lottery positioning, but expect Bobrovsky to get back on the ice as soon as he can considering that the team is using two rookies (Anton Forsberg and Joonas Korpisalo) in net at the moment.

Blue Jackets' Sergei Bobrovsky: Skates, faces shots Tuesday

Bobrovsky (groin) joined his teammates on the ice Tuesday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports. Bobrovsky took yet another step en route to a return to the ice, taking shots in addition to skating. Prior to being injured, the netminder was struggling to get wins, registering 11 wins in 25 games. Without a timetable for a return, it will depend on how the 27-year-old's body responds to the added work at practice.
