Senators' Matt Frattin: Loaned to AHL Toronto

Frattin was loaned to AHL Toronto on Wednesday, though he remains a member of the Senators' organization. The former University of North Dakota standout was part of Tuesday's Dion Phaneuf trade, moving from Toronto's organization to Ottawa's. However, Frattin was already playing for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, and the Sens decided to leave him there for the time being.

Senators' Matt Frattin: Sent to Ottawa in Phaneuf trade

Frattin was traded along with Dion Phaneuf and three prospects to the Senators on Tuesday for Milan Michalek, Colin Greening, Tobias Lindberg and a draft pick. The 28-year-old winger has 135 NHL games under his belt, but it's been a long time since he enjoyed a regular role in the big leagues. He's spent this whole season up to this point with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, recording a modest nine goals and 22 points in 47 games -- a far cry from last season's 26 goals and 48 points in 59 AHL contests. A member of the Leafs' organization since they drafted him in the fourth round in 2007, Frattin will have to adjust to brand-new surroundings for the first time as a pro. He'll likely report to AHL Binghamton.
