Lightning's Jonathan Marchessault: Held pointless in January

Marchessault extended his pointless streak to five games Wednesday, but the Lightning still trumped the Maple Leafs with a 1-0 win. Marchessault caught fire starting in mid-December, compiling a seven-game points streak that included three goals and four assists. Unfortunately, he has yet to log any points in 2016 and the 25-year-old only saw more than 10 minutes of ice time once in five January contests. Marchessault is an inexperienced center whose playing time appeared to spike when various injuries thinned out Tampa Bay's forward group to finish off 2015. With most of those forwards healthy again, Marchessault's minutes have suffered as a result.

Lightning's Jonathan Marchessault: Point streak at six games and seven points

Marchessault extended his point streak to six games with two assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets. Sheesh -- where the heck did this come from? He has three goals and four assists in those six games after tallying three points in 13 outings. Marchessault is a short-term add to deep rosters, but don't expect this production to remain. He'll be at the splintery end of the bench once the Bolts start to get healthy.

Lightning's Jonathan Marchessault: Scores in loss

Marchessault tallied his team's lone goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Canucks. Marchessault was the lone offensive bright spot for the Bolts on Tuesday, as he extended his current point streak to five games. He now has five goals and three assists through 18 games on the season, so his fantasy trade value may never be higher.

Lightning's Jonathan Marchessault: Gets opportunity on top power-play line

Marchessault will move up to Tampa Bay's top power-play unit, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Marchessault has seen significant time with the man advantage on Tampa Bay's second unit, averaging over two minutes of power-play ice time per game. Both of the 24-year-old's goals this season have come with the extra attacker, but he has failed to get on the scoresheet in the last three contests.

    Lightning's Jonathan Marchessault: Recalled Sunday

Marchessault was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Sunday. Both Tyler Johnson and Cedric Paquette missed optional practice on Sunday, which could mean that they just took the option, but the recall of Marchessault could suggest injuries. If there are indeed injuries, Marchessault would likely assume a bottom-six role in the case of an absence.

Lightning's Jonathan Marchessault: Reassigned to AHL

Marchessault was reassigned to AHL Syracuse on Sunday. Marchessault drew into each of the last two contest, but recorded just one shot on goal while averaging just 7:26 of ice time. He'll now return to the AHL, opening up a roster spot for Tye McGinn to join the Lightning.

  • Headed to the minors, but must clear waivers

News: Jonathan Marchessault has been placed on waivers, reports Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Analysis: The little buzzsaw isn't far from an NHL job, but the team can only deal with so many little guys up front. He could be one of the first forwards tapped if there's an injury to a scorer. But that's only if he doesn't get claimed by another team.
  • Lightning Sign Marchessault

News: The Lightning have signed Jonathan Marchessault to a one-year, two-way contract, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Marchessault, who saw action in a pair of regular season games as well two playoff contests with the Lightning in 2014-15, spent the bulk of the past season with AHL Syracuse, where he notched 24 goals and 67 points in 68 games. Now that he's signed for the coming season, the 24-year-old winger will look to take another step in his pro development by sticking with the Lightning out of the gate.
  • Bolts' Marchessault Could Play In Game 6

News: Jonathan Marchessault will go through warmups Tuesday and could join the lineup for Game 6 against the Canadiens, Arpon Basu of reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Marchessault said he was told to come "ready to play" by coach Jon Cooper, though it remains to be seen whether he'll end up seeing the ice. The 24-year-old was recalled from AHL Syracuse at the start of the month but has not appeared in any of the team's playoff games. However, with Ryan Callahan (appendectomy) almost certainly out of the lineup, Marchessault could pick up his first career postseason minutes.
