• Preds' Bartley Riding Pine

News: Victor Bartley was a healthy scratch for the ninth straight game Tuesday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Since the return of Ryan Ellis from a lower-body injury earlier this month, Victor Bartley has not been able to secure himself a spot in the lineup. He's currently the No. 7 defenseman on the Preds' depth chart right now, and doesn't figure to see any game action anytime soon. Needless to say, he should not be in anyone's fantasy lineup for the time being.
  • Rare Assist For Preds' Bartley

News: Victor Bartley saw just 9:40 worth of ice time during Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Devils, but assisted on Mike Fisher's second-period goal for his 10th point of the season.
Analysis: While it's good to see Victor Bartley crack the scoresheet, his stock has really fallen since Cody Franson was re-acquired from Toronto via trade last last month. Previously, Bartley had been averaging 13-14 minutes per game, however in the last three contests his ice time has been less than 10 minutes per night, including just 4:49 against the Rangers on March 2. With Franson back in the fold, Bartley is now occupying a spot on the Preds' third defensive pairing alongside Seth Jones, making him irrelevant in all but the deepest fantasy formats.
  • Preds' Bartley Expected Scratch Thursday

News: Victor Bartley is expected to be a healthy scratch Thursday against Minnesota, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Although no formal announcement has been made thus far, Victor Bartley was on the ice for an extended period following the morning skate - typically an indication of a player's planned absence from the lineup later that day. If Bartley doesn't dress, expect Ryan Ellis to rejoin the lineup after missing the previous 21 games with a lower-body injury.
  • Preds' Bartley Benched

News: Victor Bartley was a healthy scratch for Sunday's 2-1 shootout win over the Sabres.
Analysis: With the Preds' having re-acquired Cody Franson from Toronto via trade last week, Victor Bartley - who has just nine assists in 31 games this season - will now be competing for the Preds' sixth blue line spot with rookie Anthony Bitetto. Furthermore, once Ryan Ellis and Anton Volchenkov return from their respective lower-body injuries, Bartley could wind up watching even more games from the press box. Accordingly, he does not make for a great fantasy recommendation at this time.
  • Preds' Bartley Seeing Regular Ice Time

News: Victor Bartley skated in his 12th consecutive game Tuesday against the Maple Leafs, but failed to record a point in 13:07 of ice time.
Analysis: The good news is, Victor Bartley finally seems to have secured himself a regular spot in the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch more often than not over the first half of the season. However, he still has only seven points in 22 games and plays on the Preds' third defensive pairing most nights. This limits his opportunities to contribute offensively, making it hard to recommend him for fantasy purposes.
  • Preds' Bartley Watching From Press Box

News: After recording five assists in six games in December, Victor Bartley has been a healthy scratch for the past three games.
Analysis: Victor Bartley has been in and out of the lineup all season as the Preds' seventh defenseman, so he's been hard to rely on for fantasy purposes this year. He has been fairly productive when called upon, but needs to secure himself a regular spot in the Preds' lineup before we can recommend him.
  • Preds' Bartley Collects Two More Points

News: Victor Bartley dished out a pair of assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Victor Bartley's played in just three contests in December, but he's recorded at least a point in each of them including multi-point efforts in consecutive games filling in for Anton Volchenkov. He hasn't received much playing time, but the 26-year-old has made the most of his limited opportunities so far.
  • Rare Start For Preds' Bartley

News: Playing in just his sixth game of the season, Victor Bartley contributed a pair of assists during Saturday's 6-5 OT win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Subbing in for the injured Anton Volchenkov (lower body), Victor Bartley saw just 12:11 worth of ice time, but made the most of his limited minutes. He remains a very risky fantasy play, given that he's frequently a healthy scratch and plays on the third defensive pairing when he does suit up.
  • Preds' Bartley Finally Cracks Lineup

News: After sitting as a healthy scratch for the first 10 games, Victor Bartley saw his first game action of the year Sunday against the Canucks, skating 13:30 on the third defensive pairing alongside Ryan Ellis.
Analysis: With Anton Volchenkov serving the first of a four-game suspension, Victor Bartley was finally able to crack the lineup and will likely remain there for the remainder of this week at least. As such, feel free to put him in your fantasy lineup if you need a warm body. However, with just 13 points over the last two seasons combined, just don't expect a whole lot from him in the offense department.
  • Preds' Bartley Scores First Goal Friday

News: Victor Bartley scored his first career NHL goal during the Predators' 6-5 win over the Flames on Friday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old defenseman appeared in 24 games last season and now 40 games this year before finally finding the net for the first time in his career. He now has three points in his last four games, though he's not a recommended fantasy player as he is still considered more of a stay-at-home blueliner.
