• Garbutt Traded To Blackhawks

News: The Stars traded Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley to the Blackhawks in exchange for Patrick Sharp and Stephen Johns on Friday.
Analysis: Ryan Garbutt will likely slot into a bottom-six role with Chicago in 2015-16. He is more valuable to his NHL team than his fantasy owners, as he is a top-notch agitator when on the ice. He tallied eight goals and 17 assists for a total of 25 points in 67 games with Dallas in 2014-15.
  • Stars' Garbutt Notches Goal In Win

News: Ryan Garbutt registered a goal and two PIM in Monday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Ryan Garbutt is a valued cog on the third line for the Stars, but his skill set is mostly marginalized in the fantasy realm. With 24 points, 55 PIM and 81 hits on the season, he's really only an asset in very deep leagues.
  • Stars' Garbutt Delivers Assist In Win

News: Ryan Garbutt tacked on a secondary assist in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Ryan Garbutt had 15 assists last season, and he's already matched that total with 15 more games on the schedule. His role as a bottom-six forward is not ideal for fantasy owners, but Garbutt can be a sneaky fantasy option skating for the Stars, a team that shares with the Blues the Western Conference lead in goals scored at 209.
  • Stars' Garbutt Nabs Assist Saturday

News: Ryan Garbutt picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: Despite occupying a bottom-six role most of the season for the Stars, Ryan Garbutt has provided a fair amount of offense, generating seven goals, 10 assists and 104 shots on goal over 44 games. Even so, those numbers make him strictly a deep-league consideration.
  • Dallas' Garbutt Extends Point Streak

News: Ryan Garbutt registered an assist, a plus-1 rating, and a pair of shots in Saturday's win over the Wild.
Analysis: That assist extends Ryan Garbutt's point streak to four games, a stretch over which he has two goals, two assists, a plus-5 rating, and an average of 2.75 shots per game. It seems unlikely that Garbutt can keep this pace up, but if you're playing him, you have to love this. It's as good as it's going to get for the 29-year-old winger.
  • Stars' Garbutt On Three-Game Point Streak

News: Ryan Garbutt scored a goal in Wednesday's win over Arizona, giving him points in three straight games.
Analysis: In the last three games Ryan Garbutt has two goals, an assist, a plus-4 rating, and nine shots. He's providing a ton of value for owners right now, but there's no guarantee how long this will last. His career-high numbers came last season when he posted 17 goals and 15 assists in 75 games, though he's currently on pace to best those numbers with 19 goals and 16 assists.
  • Stars' Garbutt Suspended Three Games

News: Ryan Garbutt was suspended three games Thursday for a slew-foot on Winnipeg's Dustin Byfuglien in Tuesday's game, USA Today reports.
Analysis: The infraction Ryan Garbutt committed typically results in only a fine, but given the severity of his act and his disciplinary history, the NHL decided to come down harder than expected. Garbutt will sit out one game this weekend and two games next week before being eligible to return Dec. 21.
  • Stars' Garbutt Facing Another Suspension

News: Ryan Garbutt will have a hearing Thursday morning regarding his slew-foot on the Jets' Dustin Byfuglien in Tuesday's game.
Analysis: Ryan Garbutt returned from a two-game suspension just two weeks ago for kneeing the Oilers' Taylor Hall, so don't expect the NHL's Department of Player Safety to give him the benefit of the doubt when they rule on his case Thursday. It seems all but certain that another suspension -- or at least a healthy fine -- will be coming Garbutt's way.
  • Garbutt Adds Empty Netter For Stars

News: Ryan Garbutt scored an empty netter to go along with three shots and six hits in Saturday's win over Montreal.
Analysis: In the three games since his two-game suspension, Ryan Garbutt has two goals, a plus-1 rating, eight shots, and four penalty minutes. He only played 5:04 against Detroit, but he's otherwise been putting up some solid numbers across categories for owners. His ceiling is low, but he's making a little noise right now.
