Islanders' Ryan Strome: Only has 19 points this season

Strome has been an offensive disappointment for the Islanders with only five goals and 14 points so far this season. Strome has the talent to be a dangerous playmaker but has yet to find that kind of consistency so far this season. He also has a tendency to be soft in his defensive zone coverage which has led him to being benched a time or two. Still, the Isles keep giving him chances as he is currently on the top line with John Tavares so a resurgence is not out of the question.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Plays in 160th career game

Strome played in his 160th career NHL game Friday versus Ottawa, reports Newsday's Arthur Staple. The real importance of this milestone is that Strome can no longer be sent down to the AHL without passing through waivers. Strome has actually impressed the Isles with his play since being recalled from Bridgeport earlier this season. He still hasn't become the consistent offensive force the Isles were hopeful for but is still just 22 years of age with plenty of time to improve.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Scores first goal in 17 games

Strome scored his first goal since Nov. 30 versus the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The marker was only the fourth of the season for Strome who has not yet developed into the offensive player the Islanders were hoping for. Strome has also yet to find a home on a certain line. He has been bounced around the top three lines all season which probably won't help his consistency.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Has gone 15 games without a goal

Strome hasn't scored since Nov. 30 versus the Blue Jackets. Strome has been somewhat of an enigma to the Islanders. He possesses enough talent to be a consistent 25 goal scorer in the NHL but still has yet to put it all together. His effort has also been in question at times and led to him being sent down to the AHL for a short time in November. While there have been no complaints about his effort recently, the demotion hasn't helped his play on the ice at least as far as goals are concerned.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Ready to return Tuesday

Strome (upper body) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Panthers, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports. Earlier reports suggested that Strome would miss the contest, but evidently he's fit to play Tuesday. To make room for him, Steve Bernier will watch from the press box.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Not likely to play Tuesday

Strome (upper body) was on the ice early for the Tuesday morning skate, and Arthur Staple of Newsday doesn't believe the center will suit up for the evening contest against the Panthers. Strome has been skating and drawing into practices, but it sounds like he will miss his second straight game with the ailment. Steve Bernier could pick up bottom-six minutes if Strome is out, as expected. Consider Strome to be day-to-day ahead of Thursday's road contest against the Avalanche.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Back at practice Monday

Strome (upper body) returned to practice with the Islanders on Monday, reports Newsday. Strome has been out of the lineup after being boarded during the game Saturday. Coach Jack Capuano hinted that if not for the quick turnaround (playing Sunday) that Strome may not have missed anytime at all. This would seem to indicate that Strome should return to the lineup Tuesday.

    Islanders' Ryan Strome: Out Sunday

Strome (upper body) is out for Sunday's tilt with New Jersey. The struggling former first-round pick will sit out Sunday's contest after leaving Saturday's game early. There is no timetable for Strome's return, but Steve Bernier will enter the lineup in Strome's place Sunday.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Will not return Saturday

Strome will not return to Saturday's game after suffering an upper body injury, Arthur Staple of Newsday Sports reports. It's unclear when Strome may have incurred the injury, but more information should be available after the contest. The 22-year-old center has scored three goals and 10 points in 19 games this season.

Islanders' Ryan Strome: Heating up after being recalled from minors

Strome scored a goal and added an assist in a 5-3 win over the visiting Avalanche on Monday. Perhaps a 22-day stint in the minors did some good from Strome, as he now has points in three straight games since being recalled. He was very efficient in this one, picking up his two points while skating to a plus-2 and firing three shots on goal in just 11:33 of ice time. If last season's 50-point man continues to produce like this, he could make for a solid waiver-wire pickup if his previous owner jumped ship when he was demoted to the AHL. Take a look.
