Allen York signed a personal tryout contract with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate in Rockford on Tuesday as a backup to Mac Carruth, the Daily Herald reports.
With both Corey Crawford and Nikolai Khabibulin out for extended period of times for the Hawks, the team needed to grab both Rockford goalies, Antti Raanta and Kent Simpson, in the last few weeks. Rockford needed an experienced goalie, so they signed Allen York. York had recently played three games for the Evansville IceMen of the ECHL. He has NHL experience, having played 11 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011-12, posting a 3-2-0 record with a 2.30 GAA and .919 save percentage.
