Canucks' Taylor Fedun: Recalled from AHL

Fedun was recalled from AHL Utica on Saturday. With Ben Hutton (undisclosed) unavailable for Saturday's game, Fedun will come up for the first time this season to provide depth along the blue line. Fedun, who made seven appearances with San Jose last season, has chipped in two goals and four assists in 14 games with Utica so far this year.

    • Fedun Signs One-Year Deal With Canucks

News: Taylor Fedun signed a one-year deal with the Canucks on Wednesday, Jim Jamieson of The Province reports.
Analysis: Taylor Fedun was essentially signed for injury insurance on the defensive line for Vancouver and is expected to spend most of the season in the minors. He hasn't had much experience in the NHL, as he has recorded six points in just 11 career games with the Sharks and Oilers, but he did record 34 points in 65 games in the AHL last season.
    • Sharks Send Fedun To AHL

News: Taylor Fedun was assigned to AHL Worcester on Sunday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Taylor Fedun, who rejoins Worcester for the team's playoff push, notched four helpers in seven games with the big club this season. With Worcester, the 26-year-old blueliner has notched 33 points and 37 PIM in 63 AHL games to date.
    • Sharks' Fedun Grabs Two Assists

News: Taylor Fedun collected a pair of helpers in Saturday's loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: Taylor Fedun's now got three assists and nine shots on goal in four games with the Sharks this season. The 26-year-old blueliner has put up great numbers at the AHL level, but he's got just seven career NHL games under his belt, so we would be careful before considering snatching him up for these final few games. He's likely auditioning for a role next season right now, so if he keeps producing, he could be a sleeper in some deeper leagues in 2015-16.
    • Fedun Grabs First Point With Sharks

News: Taylor Fedun grabbed an assist, a plus-1 rating, and a pair of shots in Wednesday's win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: Taylor Fedun grabs his first point with the Sharks in his second game in the uniform and his sixth NHL game total. Fedun has bounced around a lot in his career, but is getting a shot to prove his worth while the Sharks have very little left on the line this season.
    • Fedun Recalled By Sharks

News: Taylor Fedun was recalled from AHL Worcester on Sunday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Taylor Fedun, who has notched 33 points in 63 games for Worcester to date, will bolster the Sharks' blue line in advance of Sunday's game against the Penguins, with Marc-Edouard Vlasic dealing with a lower-body injury.
    • Sharks Return Fedun To Minors

News: Taylor Fedun was reassigned to AHL Worcester on Monday, TheAHL.com reports.

    • Sharks Recall Fedun From Minors

News: Taylor Fedun was recalled from AHL Worcester on Saturday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Matt Irwin (upper body) is slated to miss Saturday's game against the Canucks, prompting the Sharks to recall Taylor Fedun to bolster the team's depth. It doesn't sound like Fedun will enter the lineup Saturday as a direct replacement for Irwin, however, as those duties are likely to go to veteran Scott Hannan. Unless the Sharks suffer another injury on the blue line, Fedun figures to remain in the press box for the duration of his stay with the parent club.
    • Fedun Gets Cut From Sharks Camp

News: The Sharks have cut Taylor Fedun from camp, according to Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News.
Analysis: After looking good through much of camp and appearing to be on the short list, Taylor Fedun has been sent to the AHL. He may be at the top of the list for a call-up if one of the young defenders doesn't work out.
