Stars' Antoine Roussel: Pots third of the year

Roussel had a goal, a plus-1 rating and a pair of shots in Thursday's win over Winnipeg. Roussel is often rostered because he provides a ton of penalty minutes and much more offense than most guys with his PIM numbers often do. But his game has been on the cleaner side over the last five games. He has just a single minor penalty in that time. His 26 minutes through 15 games ranks 14th in the league.

Stars' Antoine Roussel: Available to play Tuesday

Roussel (upper body) will be available Tuesday's tilt against the Maple Leafs but will be a coach's decision, Mark Stepneski of reports. The upper-body injury that cost Roussel the past two games appears to be behind him, but coach Lindy Ruff indicated it was possible he'd scratch the winger anyway. If he doesn't slot back into the lineup, his next chance will come Thursday against the Jets.

Stars' Antoine Roussel: Not part of line rushes

Roussel (upper body) took the ice for warmups, but wasn't part of the team's line rushes, indicating he will sit out Sunday against the Red Wings, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports. Roussel was expected to rejoin the lineup for the contest, but it seems as though he's not quite ready yet. Alex Hemsky will instead draw into the lineup in his place, playing left wing alongside Vernon Fiddler and Colton Sceviour. Roussel's next chance to return will come Tuesday against the Maple Leafs.

      Stars' Antoine Roussel: Out Friday

Roussel was held out of Friday's tilt against the Hurricanes with an upper-body injury,'s Mark Stepneski reports. With Ales Hemsky (hip) returning to the Stars' lineup Friday against Carolina, it was initially believed that Roussel was simply a healthy scratch for the contest. However, the team later revealed Roussel is actually dealing with an upper-body injury, which would have held him out of Friday's game regardless of Hemsky's availability. Roussel is being listed as day-to-day with the ailment, meaning he could draw back into Dallas' lineup as soon as Sunday against the Red Wings.

Stars' Antoine Roussel: Banner day against San Jose

Roussel posted a goal, two assists and a season-high 16:01 of ice time in Saturday's win over the Sharks. It was a great game for Roussel, showcasing his offensive ability. The season-high ice time may have a little bit to do with him staying out of the penalty box. It was a rare instance of Roussel getting zero penalty minutes. If you're rostering him, you're probably banking on those penalty minutes. Enjoy the offense today, the penalties will be back soon enough.

Stars' Antoine Roussel: Plays his game in loss

Roussel had an assist, a plus-1 rating, seven penalty minutes and a shot through 15:27 of ice time in Saturday's loss to the Avs. Roussel did everything you'd want from him, which includes leading the team in penalty minutes in a game that got a little rough as the Stars began to get blown out in the third.

    • Gives owners what they want

News: Antoine Roussel finished Thursday's preseason loss to the Lightning with five penalty minutes and a paltry 9:51 of ice time.
Analysis: Penalties will always limit Antoine Roussel's ice time, but if you're rostering him penalties are likely what you're looking for. He should be able to get more ice time than he saw on Thursday, since he's offensively capable, but he's not going to be a guy who averages 18 minutes a night or higher.
    • Roussel Leads World Championships In Penalties

News: Antoine Roussel led the World Championships in penalty minutes with 34 -- as well as one game misconduct -- through seven games.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel, unsurprisingly, led the tournament in penalty minutes despite Team France only playing seven of a possible 10 games. Roussel's tournament wasn't great, though a big part of that was Team France being outmatched. He finished with two assists and three shots on goal through seven games.
    • Dallas' Roussel Has Disappeared

News: Antoine Roussel, who was having a strong sophomore campaign until mid-January, has just one goal and one assist in the 28 games since January 18.
Analysis: It's a pretty incredible all-stop for Antoine Roussel. In the 44 games prior to this slump he had 11 goals and 11 assists, a pace of .5 points per game, which had been on track to best a solid 14-goal, 15-assist performance last season. Since those first 44 games, he's averaging .07 points per game. His shots have fallen off, too. He started the season averaging 1.55 shots per game and has fallen to 1.14 shots per game in the last 28 games. His ice time hasn't suffered greatly through most of the slump, but it's starting to and unless he finds his scoring touch, you can assume that his ice time is going to stay low.
    • Stars' Roussel Skates At Monday's Practice

News: Antoine Roussel skated at Monday's practice and is on track to return from his two-game suspension Tuesday against St. Louis, reports.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel was suspended two games for cross-checking Boston's Adam McQuaid last Tuesday. He sat out Friday's win over the Panthers and Saturday's loss to the Avalanche but is expected to return to action Tuesday in St. Louis after skating on his normal line with Cody Eakin and Ryan Garbutt at Monday's session.
