• Gives owners what they want

News: Antoine Roussel finished Thursday's preseason loss to the Lightning with five penalty minutes and a paltry 9:51 of ice time.
Analysis: Penalties will always limit Antoine Roussel's ice time, but if you're rostering him penalties are likely what you're looking for. He should be able to get more ice time than he saw on Thursday, since he's offensively capable, but he's not going to be a guy who averages 18 minutes a night or higher.
  • Roussel Leads World Championships In Penalties

News: Antoine Roussel led the World Championships in penalty minutes with 34 -- as well as one game misconduct -- through seven games.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel, unsurprisingly, led the tournament in penalty minutes despite Team France only playing seven of a possible 10 games. Roussel's tournament wasn't great, though a big part of that was Team France being outmatched. He finished with two assists and three shots on goal through seven games.
  • Dallas' Roussel Has Disappeared

News: Antoine Roussel, who was having a strong sophomore campaign until mid-January, has just one goal and one assist in the 28 games since January 18.
Analysis: It's a pretty incredible all-stop for Antoine Roussel. In the 44 games prior to this slump he had 11 goals and 11 assists, a pace of .5 points per game, which had been on track to best a solid 14-goal, 15-assist performance last season. Since those first 44 games, he's averaging .07 points per game. His shots have fallen off, too. He started the season averaging 1.55 shots per game and has fallen to 1.14 shots per game in the last 28 games. His ice time hasn't suffered greatly through most of the slump, but it's starting to and unless he finds his scoring touch, you can assume that his ice time is going to stay low.
  • Stars' Roussel Skates At Monday's Practice

News: Antoine Roussel skated at Monday's practice and is on track to return from his two-game suspension Tuesday against St. Louis, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel was suspended two games for cross-checking Boston's Adam McQuaid last Tuesday. He sat out Friday's win over the Panthers and Saturday's loss to the Avalanche but is expected to return to action Tuesday in St. Louis after skating on his normal line with Cody Eakin and Ryan Garbutt at Monday's session.
  • Stars' Roussel Suspended For Cross-Check

News: Antoine Roussel was suspended two games Thursday for cross-checking Adam McQuaid in Tuesday's win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Suspensions are part of the risk you run with having Antoine Roussel on your team. He's a high-emotion player who takes a lot of penalties. It's worth a lot if your league scores PIM, but it could mean you lose him for a few games. He'll be eligible to return to the Stars' lineup Feb. 17 against the Blues.
  • Hearing With NHL On Tap For Stars' Roussel

News: Antoine Roussel will have a discipline hearing Thursday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for his illegal cross-check on the Bruins' Adam McQuaid during Tuesday's game, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel was ejected less than four minutes into the match for the dirty hit, which earned him a five-minute major penalty and 10-minute game misconduct. The Stars winger has shown a mean streak during his NHL career, as he was fined (but not suspended) earlier this season for punching a defenseless player. While the fact that Roussel's hearing will be over the phone rather than in-person suggests a lengthy banishment is off the table, it wouldn't be a surprise if he was suspended a couple games for his antics.
  • Stars' Roussel On Three-Game Streak

News: Antoine Roussel scored and registered two shots in Saturday's 7-1 win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel has two goals and an assist over his three game point streak. He's also a plus-4 in that time. He's starting to provide value across categories, beyond the fairly reliable number of penalty minutes you're going to get with Roussel.
  • Roussel Adds Assist In Stars' Win

News: Antoine Roussel had an assist and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's win over Arizona.
Analysis: Antoine Roussel is providing what owners have hoped for to this point. He's taken a slight step forward in point production from last year's 14 goals and 15 assists. He's on track for 18 goals and 23 assists. Importantly he's getting all the penalty minutes owners hoped for. His 80 minutes on the season rank third in the NHL.
  • Stars' Roussel Tallies Empty-Net Goal

News: Antoine Roussel potted an empty-net goal -- his seventh marker of the season -- in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Canucks.
Analysis: The Stars' resident pest now has 16 points and 50 shots to go with his 62 PIMS, making him relevant in nearly all formats this season that count PIM. Antoine Roussel has four points in his last four games after being held off the scoresheet for the previous six, so owners may want to get him back in their lineups if they haven't done so already.
  • Stars' Roussel Contributes Two Assists

News: Antoine Roussel dished out a pair of assists in Saturday's win over the Devils.
Analysis: With 15 points (six goals) in 29 games, Antoine Roussel has been a pleasant surprise this season. On track for the first 40-point campaign of his NHL career, the left-winger is a solid secondary scorer in Dallas. Aside from a recent six-game pointless drought, Rousell has been fairly consistent thus far, recording at least one point in 14 of 29 games. With 62 PIM on the season, Roussel is worthy of a look in some deeper leagues.
