Bruins' Torey Krug: Hands out two helpers in win

Krug assisted on the game-opening goal in the first period and the game-tying goal on a third-period power play Friday against the Rangers. He finished plus-2 with three shots, three hits and three blocks. Krug had missed the scoresheet in three straight games -- bizarrely, he'd fired six shots on net in two of those and zero in the other. The highly skilled blueliner is still stuck on one goal for the year, but he's shown plenty of willingness to fire the puck and is on pace to exceed his career high of 40 points anyway.

Bruins' Torey Krug: Will play Thursday

Krug (undisclosed) will play Thursday against the Avalanche. Krug missed practice both Tuesday and Wednesday in what were termed "maintenance days," but he's indeed in the lineup for the contest. He'll pair with Adam McQuaid for the contest.

Bruins' Torey Krug: Game-time decision Thursday

Krug (unspecified issue) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Avs, reports. Krug's absences from practice both Tuesday and Wednesday were portrayed by the B's as maintenance days, but his status for Thursday's game has yet to be cemented. With that in mind, GM Don Sweeney relayed that the blueliner -- who participated in Thursday's morning skate -- is "just dealing with something small."

Bruins' Torey Krug: Available for Thursday morning skate

Krug (rest) was back on the ice at the Thursday morning skate, DJ Bean of reports. This is a positive sign after Krug curiously received two consecutive "maintenance days" leading up to Thursday's skate. His official status for Thursday's game against the visiting Avalanche has yet to be determined, but we believe the team will announce his availability ahead of the opening faceoff.

Bruins' Torey Krug: Gets another maintenance day

Krug received another maintenance day Wednesday. While there's been no injury reported here, Krug's status for Thursday's game against the Avs is now worth confirming, given that the blueliner has had two straight "maintenance days."

Bruins' Torey Krug: Notches two assists in Tuesday's loss

Krug had two assists -- one on the power play -- in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Stars. Krug has yet to score a goal this season, but remains among the top point-producing defensemen in the NHL. He has been particularly lethal on the PP; six of his 10 assists this season have come on the man advantage. Krug also had four shots and played a team-high 26:06.

Bruins' Torey Krug: Helps out in win

Krug assisted a Brad Marchand goal in Friday night's 3-1 win over the Panthers. Krug's pass actually appeared to be more of a shot attempt, as he telegraphed the puck directly at the net, and Marchand squared up in front of Florida goalie Roberto Luongo to tuck it in for the score. Nonetheless, that gives Krug eight helpers on the year, putting him at a tie with John Carlson of the Capitals for the second highest assist output among blueliners with four more defensemen currently at 10 helpers.

Bruins' Torey Krug: Collects two assists in win

Krug picked up two assists and fired five shots on goal in Saturday's win over Arizona. Krug now has six assists in five games to start the season. The 24-year-old is averaging 23:08 of ice time and has fired 16 shots on goal thus far. Having put up 40 points in 2013-14 and 39 points last season, Krug is becoming a reliable source of production on the blueline. Krug has taken on a larger offensive role with the departure of Dougie Hamilton and has already racked up five helpers with the man advantage. Keep him rolling.

Bruins D Torey Krug collects trio of assists in loss Monday

Bruins defenseman Torey Krug set up all three goals in Boston's 6-3 loss to the Lightning on Monday. He also fired three shots on goal for the third game in a row. With the departure of Dougie Hamilton to Calgary in the offseason and the rapid decline of veteran Zdeno Chara, Krug is now the go-to offensive blueliner in Beantown. He's posted point totals of 39 and 40 in his first two full NHL seasons, so it's very realistic to expect an uptick in production this year -- especially given the oodles of power-play time he's likely to receive. Through three games, the 24-year-old has already spent 9:34 on the man advantage.

    • Bruins' Krug Looks To See Bigger Role

News: Torey Krug is hoping to step into a bigger role on the Boston blue line following the offseason trade of Dougie Hamilton, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: Torey Krug managed to record 39 points in 78 games last season, while working mostly on the Bruins' third defensive pairing and as a power-play specialist. However, with Hamilton no longer in the mix, a top-four role is Krug's for the taking and with the potential for a bigger role this season, the 5-foot-9, 181 pounder's already respectable fantasy numbers could see something of an uptick.
