Panthers' Brian Campbell: Three points Tuesday

Campbell scored a goal and two assists in Tuesday's victory over the Avs. The 36-year-old has been a strong point producer from the blue line in the past including scoring 53 points in 2011-12 and has been one of the rare veterans on the youthful Panthers. After scoring 27 points last season, Campbell likely isn't a consistent enough scorer to be a fantasy option except in the deepest leagues.

Panthers' Brian Campbell: Tallies assist in win Tuesday

Campbell tallied an assist, picked up two penalty minutes, posted a plus-1 rating and took two shots on goal in Tuesday's victory over the Hurricanes. Campbell has a pair of assists on the season and a plus-2 rating, but has still shown a penchant for making poor decisions in the Panthers' zone. After logging more than 20 minutes of ice time in the opener, he played in only 15:25 on Tuesday. The 36-year-old will need to be dependable for the Panthers if they want to make the playoffs and any offensive contribution he can make will only help.

    • Panthers' Campbell Picks Up Assist In Loss Tuesday

News: Brian Campbell picked up an assist and four penalty minutes in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: The 35-year-old isn't typically the biggest source of either points or penalty minutes, so the four penalty minutes is always nice to see, particularly when the opponent can't convert on either power play opportunity. Brian Campbell now has an assist in three out of four games including two in a row on the power play. He averages more than 23 minutes per game on the ice, and while that has dwindled a bit, Campbell is an intriguing option for the home stretch of the season.
    • Panthers' Campbell Tallies Assist In Win Sunday

News: Brian Campbell was awarded an assist on the power play in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Senators.
Analysis: Brian Campbell now has two points and a plus-3 rating in his last three games and has logged heavy ice time to go with it. His 25 points (three goals, 22 assists) is second among defensemen on the team and leads the team in average time on ice at more than 23 minutes per game. While he won't pick up too many goals or penalty minutes, Campbell is an interesting play for fantasy owners who need to boost their ice time and need help in the assist category.
    • Two Power-Play Helpers For Panthers' Campbell

News: Brian Campbell notched two power-play assists in Saturday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Three of Brian Campbell's four multi-point outings on the season have come in February, but that doesn't necessarily indicate the 35-year-old is headed for a huge finish to the season. He's still well behind his 2013-14 marks of seven goals and 30 assists, which can be partially attributed to a three-point decline in his shooting percentage and a three-minute decline in his TOI.
    • Panthers' Campbell Notches 20th Point In Loss

News: Brian Campbell picked up an assist in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: Brian Campbell now has three goals and 17 assists on the season, which is good for second best among Panthers defensemen. The 35-year-old has seen his offensive production fall off quite a bit since last season and as a result is not a great fantasy option outside of incredibly deep leagues. Campbell does gain value from playing on the power-play, where he has notched eight points (one goal and seven assists).
    • Panthers' Campbell Notches Two Helpers

News: Brian Campbell picked up two assists -- one on the power play -- and went plus-2 in Tuesday's win over Toronto.
Analysis: This effort was a near-clone of his two-point performance exactly a week before in Anaheim, but Brian Campbell turned in three scoreless outings in between. His offensive impact remains rather low this year despite those two positive outings.
    • Campbell Joins Panthers' Offensive Party Tuesday

News: Brian Campbell notched a power-play assist and an even-strength assist Tuesday in a 6-2 win over the Ducks.
Analysis: The two-time 50-point man has seen his offense dry up almost entirely this year. It kind of seems like the arrival of Aaron Ekblad on the scene has damaged Brian Campbell's fantasy value, as he's no longer the go-to offensive defenseman on the Cats. His time on ice -- both at even strength and on the power play -- are both down from last season, and his production has waned accordingly. Campbell's only of use in deep fantasy formats at this point.
    • Panthers' Campbell Beginning To Heat Up

News: Brian Campbell recorded an assist in his 24:07 of ice time Thursday against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Brian Campbell has taken a back seat as a puck mover this season to defensive partner Aaron Ekblad, but he's starting to show some signs of offensive life in January. Over his last eight games, Campbell has supplied two goals, three assists and 14 shot attempts.
    • Panthers' Campbell Gets Goal No. 2

News: Brian Campbell nabbed his second goal of the season in Friday's 6-5 win over the Flames.
Analysis: Brian Campbell has compiled at least two shot attempts in all four of his January games, but with the lone goal and no assists to show for it, it's largely gone for naught. That's essentially been the case all season for Campbell, who is on pace for a 21-point season, which would represent his lowest total in 11 years. Any wistfulness about his previously steady production should be set aside; he looks like a player firmly on the decline.
