• Reinhart Dealt To Oilers In Draft Night Deal

News: Griffin Reinhart was traded to Edmonton on Friday in exchange for the 16th and 33rd overall picks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Analysis: Griffin Reinhart returns to the city where he played his junior hockey. Reinhart played eight regular season games and one playoff game for the Islanders last season and he didn't look very good, yet the Oilers need help on defense so badly that they took a chance on him. Looking at the Oilers' current depth chart, both Reinhart and Darnell Nurse will probably be playing in the NHL next season. Reinhart has limited offensive ability and he doesn't figure to offer much fantasy value.
  • Reinhart Expected To Play Game 5 For Islanders

News: Griffin Reinhart is expected to play in Game 5 versus Washington on Thursday, reports Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: The Islanders will be down two starting defensemen in Travis Hamonic (knee) and Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion), so someone will have to step and play, and Griffin Reinhart was chosen over Ryan Pulock. Reinhart will have to shake off some nerves early, but the team will more than likely keep his shifts short, depending on how the game progresses. He's the Isles' top defensive prospect, but throwing Reinhart into a pivotal Game 5 is not ideal.
  • Isles' Reinhart Recalled From AHL Bridgeport

News: Griffin Reinhart was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Sunday, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: The 21-year-old Griffin Reinhart has one point in eight career NHL appearances, all of which came during the ongoing season. While the former No. 4 overall selection is still a big part of the Isles' future plans, he probably won't be in the lineup when the playoffs begin.
  • Isles Reassign Reinhart

News: Griffin Reinhart was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.
Analysis: Griffin Reinhart's return to the minors signals that the Islanders expect at least one of Johnny Boychuk (upper body) or Travis Hamonic (upper body) to return to the lineup for the team's next game Friday in Detroit. The 20-year-old Reinhart has one point and accrued six penalty minutes over his eight games with the Islanders this season.
  • Isles' Reinhart A Healthy Scratch Thursday

News: Griffin Reinhart was a healthy scratch Thursday versus the Blues, according to the Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: This is another curious move by Islanders coach Jack Capuano as he stated the Griffin Reinhart has played well but wants and experienced defender to play against the Blues. Why is it curious? Well the defender that takes the place of Reinhart is Matt Donovan, he who has played all of 60 games in the NHL. Perhaps my definition of experienced is different from his.
  • First NHL Point For Isles' Reinhart

News: Griffin Reinhart collected his first NHL point in Tuesday's loss to the Wild, assisting on Michael Grabner's game-opening goal.
Analysis: It took the 20-year-old six NHL games to find the scoresheet, and he's not likely to do so very often as long as the Isles keep limiting his ice time so much. He skated just 12:51 on 17 shifts Tuesday, which is pretty much in line with the highly limited ice time he's seen thus far.
  • Isles' Reinhart Expected To Play Thursday

News: Griffin Reinhart is expected to play Thursday versus the Senators, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.
Analysis: The Isles are down at least two defenseman with Johnny Boychuk (upper body) and Lubomir Visnovsky (upper body) definitely out Thursday and possibly three as Travis Hamonic is also banged up. Griffin Reinhart will stay with the team and play until at least two of these players return.
  • Isles Recall Reinhart

News: Griffin Reinhart was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday, ESPN.com's Katie Strang reports.
Analysis: The Islanders placed Lubomir Visnovsky and Johnny Boychuk on IR with upper-body ailments Wednesday, creating a void defensively. Enter Griffin Reinhart, who was held scoreless in three games with the Islanders earlier this season but has been able to rack up eight points in 15 contests with Bridgeport.
  • Isles Send Reinhart To AHL

News: Griffin Reinhart was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Thursday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Analysis: With Calvin de Haan recovered from the upper-body injury that resulted in his placement on injured reserve to begin the season, Griffin Reinhart will forfeit his job on the Islanders' third pairing. The former fourth overall draft choice was held without a point and turned in a minus-1 rating in his three games with the Islanders.
  • Isles' Reinhart Could Be On His Way To The AHL

News: Griffin Reinhart could be sent down to the AHL as soon as Thursday.
Analysis: Griffin Reinhart is still getting used to playing at the NHL level and has been caught flat footed by the speed of opposing teams more than once. With Calvin de Haan just about ready to return to the Islanders lineup, Reinhart could be the odd man out.
