    • Canadiens Assign Allen To AHL Hamilton

News: Bryan Allen was assigned to AHL Hamilton on Thursday.
Analysis: The assignment doesn't come as much of a surprise after Bryan Allen cleared waivers. The veteran defenseman has suited up for just five games with the Canadiens since being acquired Nov. 20, and hasn't played since being activated from injured reserve Dec. 23.
    • Habs To Place Allen On Waivers

News: Bryan Allen will be placed on waivers by the Canadiens on Monday, Marc Antoine Godin of La Presse reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen has played in just five games with the Canadiens, and hasn't played since being activated from injured reserve Dec. 23. The team reportedly acquired him to offset the salary of Rene Bourque, who was waived by the Canadiens in November and later traded to the Ducks.
    • Habs Activate Allen

News: Bryan Allen (illness) was activated from injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: Bryan Allen has been over his bout with the flu for at least a week, but the Canadiens simply haven't needed his services yet. It looks like holding down a regular role with Montreal could be hard to come by for the veteran blueliner.
    • Habs' Allen Over Flu

News: Bryan Allen has recovered from the flu and resumed skating Monday, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen skated on the fourth defensive pairing during practice, suggesting he will not be active for Tuesday night's game against the Hurricanes. Until coach Michel Therrien plans on using Allen in his lineup, look for him to remain on IR.
    • Habs Place Allen On IR

News: Bryan Allen (illness) was placed on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: Bryan Allen had been a healthy scratch over the Habs' previous two games, so the move to IR won't do much to change his situation. He'll be eligible for activation ahead of Friday's game versus the Kings.
    • Habs' Allen Misses Practice Monday

News: Bryan Allen (illness) did not practice with the team Monday.
Analysis: Bryan Allen has the flu, and could miss Tuesday's matchup with the Canucks. The blueliner has two points through 11 games so far this season.
    • Canadiens' Allen Makes Debut

News: Bryan Allen made his Montreal debut in Saturday night's win over Boston. He rotated on the third defensive pairing, playing a total of 14:30 in the win.
Analysis: Head coach Michel Therrien has been dressing seven defensemen of late, which has resulted in fewer than normal minutes for all of the blue-liners. That's something that can pay dividends over the long haul for older rear-guards like Sergei Gonchar (17:28) and Anrei Markov (18:44).
    • Allen To Make Montreal Debut

News: Bryan Allen will be active for Saturday night's game in Boston, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen, who was acquired from Anaheim on Thursday, took part in Saturday's morning skate, paired with Mike Weaver.
    • Habs Acquire Allen From Ducks

News: Bryan Allen was traded to the Canadiens on Thursday in exchange for forward Rene Bourque.
Analysis: Bryan Allen becomes the second addition the Habs have made to their blue line in the last two weeks, after the team acquired Sergei Gonchar from the Stars via trade Nov. 11. The 34-year-old, who appeared in six games with the Ducks, doesn't have much offensive ability in his arsenal, but he's been quite reliable in his own zone over his career. He's in the final season of a three-year, $10.5 million contract, so he'll just amount to a rental player for the Habs.
    • Ducks Activate Allen

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The move verifies that Bryan Allen will return to the lineup Friday against the Coyotes, as was expected after he practiced fully Thursday. The blueliner contributed 10 points to go along with a plus-20 rating over 68 games last season.
