Stars' Brett Ritchie returns to ice with no-contact jersey Saturday

Stars forward Brett Ritchie returned to the ice donning a no-contact jersey Saturday, Sean Shapiro of Wrong Side of the Red Line reports. Ritchie underwent surgery on his wrist on Sept. 8, and was given a 3-to-4 month recovery timetable at that point in time. It's encouraging to see him back on the ice, but he's likely still at least a few months away from returning to game action. Once healthy, he'll likely report to AHL Texas.

    • Stars' Ritchie Recovering Well From Wrist Surgery

News: Stars GM Jim Nill said Monday that Brett Ritchie (wrist) was recovering as anticipated following surgery last week, Sean Shapiro of Wrong Side of the Red Line reports.
Analysis: Brett Ritchie first sustained the wrist injury earlier this summer while shooting a puck, and is expected to be sidelined for approximately three-to-four months following the Sept. 8 procedure. Nill said Ritchie would visit a doctor in the next two weeks to be fitted for a new cast, after which the Stars could provide an updated timetable for his recovery. Ritchie is expected to begin his rehab process at the end of training camp and will more than likely report to AHL Texas once he's healthy enough to play competitive hockey.
    • Stars' Ritchie Out 3-to-4 Months

News: Brett Ritchie will be held out of action for the next 3-to-4 months after undergoing successful wrist surgery on Tuesday.
Analysis: It's an unfortunate turn of events for Brett Ritchie, as he was expected to compete for an opening day roster spot with the Stars in training camp. Now that he is expected to be sidelined for the next 3-to-4 months while he recovers from wrist surgery, the 22-year-old winger will no longer get that opportunity. Ritchie tallied nine points (six goals, three assists) in 31 games with the Stars last season, and will likely return to a prominent role with AHL Texas when healthy.
    • Stars Send Ritchie Back To Minors

News: Brett Ritchie was reassigned to AHL Texas on Thursday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: With the Stars preparing to welcome Valeri Nichushkin (hip) back into the lineup Thursday following the completion of his conditioning assignment, Brett Ritchie was at risk at losing out on a regular role with the big club. Rather than keeping him around to be a healthy scratch, Ritchie will instead have the opportunity to play on an every-game basis for the AHL squad, which will be looking to defend last season's Calder Cup title in the upcoming playoffs.
    • Ritchie Scores Again For Stars

News: Brett Ritchie had a goal and two shots through limited ice time in Tuesday's win over the Flyers.
Analysis: Brett Ritchie continues to have a quiet, but decent rookie campaign. He's still not getting regular enough ice time, or producing enough when he does get it, to merit serious fantasy consideration in most formats.
    • Ritchie Snaps Skid In Stars Loss

News: Brett Ritchie had an assist and one shot in Sunday's loss to the Wild.
Analysis: That assist snaps a streak of eight games without a point for the rookie. That skid came on the heels of him scoring three goals and an assist in his first six NHL games.
    • Stars Bring Back Ritchie From AHL

News: Brett Ritchie was recalled from AHL Texas on Saturday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: With the Stars losing three forwards (Tyler Seguin, Patrick Eaves, Ales Hemsky) to injury Friday and with another still under suspension (Antoine Roussel), Brett Ritchie will return to the parent club and immediately slot into the lineup for Saturday's game against the Avalanche. Roussel will be back for the Stars' following match, but with the other injured Stars likely looking at long-term absences, Ritchie could hold down a regular role for multiple games during this call-up period. The winger has contributed three goals and four points over his previous 10 games with the Stars this season.
    • Stars Reassign Ritchie To AHL

News: The Stars reassigned Brett Ritchie to AHL Texas on Wednesday.
Analysis: Brett Ritchie got in two games on this call-up. He finished with three shots, no points, an even plus/minus, and logged a paltry 8:56 of ice time in Tuesday's game against Boston.
    • Stars Recall Ritchie From AHL Texas

News: Brett Ritchie was recalled from AHL Texas on Thursday.
Analysis: Brett Ritchie was brought up to take the roster spot of Travis Moen (lower body), who landed on injured reserve. Ritchie was a little banged up when he was sent to Texas last weekend, but he is presumably healthy now. He will provide some forward depth in Moen's absence, though he's likely to be scratched on Thursday.
    • Stars Reassign Ritchie To AHL

News: Brett Ritchie was reassigned to AHL Texas on Sunday.
Analysis: Richie has been nursing an injury as of late, and hasn't played in any of the team's last three contests. He will now head back to AHL Texas, where he will receive more consistent playing time when healthy.
