Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Extends points streak to four games

Hartnell scored his 18th of the season in a 2-1 shootout win against Vancouver on Thursday. The goal gives Hartnell two goals and two assists in his past four games, pushing his season total to 17 goals and 35 points. Hartnell's played much better after being criticized for taking dumb penalties and remains on pace for his third-consecutive 20-goal season. He's an all-round player that offers plenty in peripherals, so he's worth owning in fantasy leagues that count hits and blocked shots.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Pots 16th in Thursday's loss

Hartnell returned to the lineup Thursday after being a healthy scratch Tuesday and scored his 16th goal of the season in a 4-2 loss to the Flames. He got a punitive scratch from coach John Tortorella after racking up some untimely penalties, but Hartnell played a more controlled game Thursday and stayed out of the sin bin. He now has 32 points and 81 PIM in 46 games to go along with a minus-two rating that's actually fairly respectable on the last-place Blue Jackets.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Snaps points streak Friday

Hartnell saw his three-game points streak come to an end Friday night against the Hurricanes. With only 81 shots in 41 games, Hartnell simply needs to shoot the puck more often. The 33-year-old does have 15 goals on the season but it's going to be really tough for him to sustain the shooting percentage of 18.5 that he's currently working with -- in fact, that's two and a half percentage points higher than he's ever had in his career.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Scores 15th

Hartnell scored his 15th goal of the season in Wednesday's win over the Stars. Hartnell also grabbed a minor penalty, giving him 23 penalty minutes in his last three games. That's an unexpected boon if your league scores penalty minutes. His 71 minutes on the year are seventh most in the league, putting him on pace for a career year in penalty minutes at age 33.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Scores in third consecutive game

Hartnell extended his goal streak to three games in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Winnipeg. Hartnell has been on a tear since his Nov. 4 benching by Coach John Tortorella, scoring three goals and two assists in just three outings. The 33-year-old winger has also stayed out of the box during his hot streak, logging just two PIM. Each of Hartnell's last three goals have come with the extra attacker, averaging almost three minutes per game of power-play ice time.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Rebounds from benching with three-point game

Hartnell scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday's game. The scoring outburst came a day after he was benched by coach John Tortorella. Message received. Hartnell is actually on pace for a 57-point season and that's certainly within normal range for the aggressive winger. He remains one of just a small number of NHLers who can deliver close to 60 points with at least 100 PIM and 150 hits.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Scratched Friday Night

Hartnell was a healthy scratch in Friday's game against the Panthers, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus-Dispatch reports. Head coach John Tortorella was not happy with a penalty Hartnell took in Tuesday's loss to the Canadiens, and was also not pleased with Hartnell's play of late, so he decided to give him the night off Friday. Tortorella did not say whether he would hold Hartnell out of any further games, but Hartnell's status warrants monitoring until he is back on his coach's good side. Hartnell will look to snap a four-game scoreless streak next time he takes the ice.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Gathers an assist and goal Tuesday in San Jose

Hartnell notched his eighth and ninth points of the season in Tuesday's second period against San Jose. The left wing opened the scoring in the second period with a goal. Then he collected an assist when the puck hit his skate and ricocheted off a stick and the goalie before Boone Jenner slapped it into the back of the net. Hartnell has scored three goals in his last four games, and he has another opportunity to continue the trend Thursday in Los Angeles.

Blue Jackets' Scott Hartnell: Notches goal, assist in winning effort

Hartnell scored a goal on his only shot, added an assist, laid two hits and went plus-2 against the Devils on Tuesday. Hartsy's gotten things going recently, tallying five points in the last six games after opening the year with just a single point and a minus-5 rating in the Jackets' first four contests. He's gotten his physical game going more to go with his offensive touch, too, having racked up 20 hits in that same six-game span.
