Avalanche's Brad Stuart: Returns to Denver

Stuart returned to Denver due to some back issues, Drew Spevak of ESPN Denver reports. Stuart has yet to collect a point through six games this season, posting a minus-2 rating over that period. The Avalanche recalled Zach Redmond to serve as the team's seventh defensemen on the current road trip. However, the Avalanche don't return home until Nov. 25 against the Senators, so it's possible Stuart will rejoin the team at some point should his back feel better.

Avalanche's Brad Stuart: Scratched Tuesday against Florida

Stuart will be scratched for Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Drew Spevak of reports. With Tyson Barrie set to return from his three-game suspension Tuesday night against the Panthers, Colorado is no longer in need of Stuart's services on the blue line. It will likely require another injury or suspension for Stuart to draw back into the Avalanche's lineup.

Avalanche's Brad Stuart: Out Saturday with ailing back

Stuart will miss Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets as he continues to deal with a back injury, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Stuart, a veteran defenseman, has only made his way into two games this season, averaging 12:53 TOI in the process. He's considered day-to-day and his next chance to suit up will be Oct. 27, a road game against the Panthers.

    • Avs Rule Stuart Out For Season Finale

News: Brad Stuart (leg) will not play in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Blackhawks, Terry Frei of the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Brad Stuart sustained the injury in Thursday's game against the Jets, and with the Avalanche already out of the running for a playoff spot, the team made the quick determination to shut him down for the remainder of the season. At present, the Avalanche only have five healthy blueliners at their disposal, so expect them to announce an AHL call-up Friday or Saturday in the wake of Stuart's absence.
    • Avs' Stuart Done With Leg Injury

News: Brad Stuart suffered a leg injury in Thursday's game against the Jets and will not return.
Analysis: With just one game remaining in the season Saturday, Brad Stuart may have finished his season with the club. If that's the case, he may have played his last game as a member of the Avalanche, entering the offseason as a free agent.
    • Avs' Stuart Sets Up Goal, Lays Eight Hits In Win

News: Brad Stuart set up one of five Avalanche goals and racked up eight hits in Thursday's win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: The 35-year-old Brad Stuart can't be counted on to provide scoring of any kind with much regularity, but he remains something of an asset in specialty formats. Over the last four games alone, Stuart has accrued 24 hits and 10 blocked shots, and has 147 and 116 in those respective categories over 54 games this season.
    • Avs' Stuart Assists In Win

News: Brad Stuart earned an assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Brad Stuart is quite proficient when it comes to gathering hits and blocks, but offense is significantly more scarce for the stay-at-home defenseman. He only has one goal and seven assists over 40 games on the season.
    • Avs' Stuart Scores Rare Goal

News: Brad Stuart scored his first goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: He only scored three last year and none the year before, which should give you an idea of what to expect from Brad Stuart offensively. Don't pay this goal much mind.
    • Two More Points For Avs' Stuart

News: Brad Stuart grabbed two helpers in Wednesday's 4-3 OT win over the visiting Flyers.
Analysis: The second assist was by far the most important, as he and fellow rearguard Tyson Barrie controlled the puck in Philly's end before Barrie dished it to Ryan O'Reilly for the game winner with 20 seconds remaining in overtime. The 35-year-old now has four points in 21 games this year -- all of which have come in the last four games -- but the fact that he hasn't recorded more than 23 points in the last eight seasons makes us believe that his mini outburst is more of an aberration than a sign of things to come.
    • Avs' Stuart Assists Twice Tuesday

News: Brad Stuart picked up two assists in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Blues.
Analysis: The two helpers marked the first points in 18 games on the season for Brad Stuart, who offers his most value to the Avalanche on his own end of the ice. The 35-year-old blueliner won't blow you away with his hit or block totals either, making him mostly a non-entity in the fantasy game.
