• Placed on IR

News: Danny DeKeyser (foot) was officially placed on 7-day injured reserve Sunday.
Analysis: Danny DeKeyser is expected to miss between three and four weeks, so it's not a huge surprise that he was placed on IR. It's unclear what the Red Wings plan to do with their defensive pairings at this point, but Brendan Smith appears one candidate to pair with the newly-acquired Mike Green to begin the season.
  • Out 3-4 weeks with foot injury

News: Danny DeKeyser has a strained ligament and will be out 3-to-4 weeks, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.
Analysis: This hurts the Red Wings to start the season, as they planned to pair him with newly acquired Mike Green. Xavier Ouellet or Alexei Marchenko are likely candidates to take his place in the lineup.
  • Suffers injury to lower left leg, status unclear

News: Danny DeKeyser sustained an injury to his lower left leg in Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh, though the extent of the injury has yet to be determined.
Analysis: Danny DeKeyser reportedly hurt himself following an awkward hit in the third period Wednesday. A day later, he was seen on crutches with an immobilizing boot on his left foot. DeKeyser's situation heightens the opportunity for one of Xavier Ouellet, Brian Lashoff or Alexei Marchenko to win a roster spot right out of training camp. DeKeyser, who is awaiting further tests, collected two goals and 31 points in 80 games last season.
  • DeKeyser Notches Two Helpers For Detroit

News: Danny DeKeyser picked up two assists Thursday in a 6-4 loss to San Jose.
Analysis: Danny DeKeyser had missed the scoresheet in four straight -- with no shots in three of those -- so it's nice to see him get back on the horse. The 25-year-old hasn't broken out as expected this year, with a modest 27 points in 71 games, but he's been a reliable member of the Detroit blue line and could still find another gear offensively in coming seasons.
  • Wings' DeKeyser Picks Up Assist

News: Danny DeKeyser notched an assist in Sunday's win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Danny DeKeyser hasn't exactly taken a quantum leap forward in his second NHL season, but with assists in each of his last two games, he's established a new career mark of 25 points. He had a reputation as a puck mover coming out of Western Michigan University as an undrafted free agent, and he's mostly lived up to that billing so far. If the 25-year-old notices some expected improvement with his low 2.6 percent shooting rate in 2015-16, he could make the jump to 35-to-40 points and goal production in the high single digits.
  • Wings' DeKeyser Snaps Slump

News: Danny DeKeyser ended a five-game pointless skid Thursday with a pair of third-period assists and a plus-2 rating in a win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Going back further, Danny DeKeyser had just two points in the last 13 games entering play Thursday. Still, he's earned praise from the coaching staff this year, and at age 24, he still has room to develop his offensive game.
  • Red Wings' DeKeyser Assists In Loss

News: Danny DeKeyser was credited with an assist in Saturday's shootout loss to the Jets.
Analysis: With 21 points over 52 games, Danny DeKeyser trails only Niklas Kronwall in defenseman scoring for the Red Wings. He's beginning to show up on the radar in mid-sized formats, but will probably need to provide a steady stream of offensive production before fantasy owners begin rushing to the waiver wire to claim him.
  • Wings' DeKeyser Collects Two Helpers

News: Danny DeKeyser picked up two assists in Sunday's win over Buffalo.
Analysis: With four points (all assists) in his last four games, Danny DeKeyser is up to two goals and 19 points in 44 games on the season, to go with a plus-5 rating. Averaging 21:05 of ice time, the 24-year-old is a solid defenseman who should land in the 30-40 point range this season. He plays a key role on a Red Wings team that has won six of their last seven games.
  • Wings' DeKeyser Picks Up Secondary Assist

News: Danny DeKeyser was credited with a secondary assist on Pavel Datsyuk's overtime winner Thursday against the Blues.
Analysis: Danny DeKeyser has assists in back-to-back games, giving him 17 points in 42 contests on the season. The Red Wings believe the 24-year-old is capable of developing into a star on the blue line, but he'll need to pile up the points with more frequency to turn that into a reality.
  • Two Points For Wings' DeKeyser

News: Danny DeKeyser scored his second goal of the season, added a power-play assist and went plus-1 in Tuesday's victory over the Sabres.
Analysis: He'd been slumping badly since scoring his first goal of the year Nov. 30, as Danny DeKeyser had managed just a lonely assist over eight December games prior to Tuesday's slate. One of the more talented young blueliners around, the 24-year-old DeKeyser owns a relatively modest 13 points in 33 games on the year, but he's got big-time upside in the long run.
