Blue Jackets' Oliver Bjorkstrand: Out 4-6 weeks

Bjorkstrand will miss the next 4-to-6 weeks with an upper-body injury, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports. The Blues' top prospects' season will thus be put on hold for at least a month while he recovers from the upper-body ailment. The 20-year-old forward has tallied two assists in six games with AHL Lake Erie this season.

    • Scores twice in preseason win

News: Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice and added an assist in Friday's 6-4 preseason win over the Sabres.
Analysis: He also laid three hits and blocked two shots. Oliver Bjorkstrand's already been assigned to AHL Lake Erie, but he didn't miss the chance to make a strong impression on the Blue Jackets coaching staff before the minor league season begins. The little winger figures to be a big part of the club's future.

News: Oliver Bjorkstrand had a goal and an assist in Columbus' 5-2 win over St. Louis in the Traverse City Prospect Tournament on Friday.
Analysis: Oliver Bjorkstrand put up 113 goals and 227 points over the last two seasons with WHL Portland. He will likely begin this coming season in the AHL, but his NHL debut should come at some point during the year. Bjorkstrand was recently ranked as the #34 prospect in the NHL by RotoWire.
    • Jackets' Bjorkstrand In Hunt For Roster Spot

News: Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards, who was behind the bench for Team USA at the world championships, thinks that Oliver Bjorkstrand will push for an NHL roster spot next season, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Oliver Bjorkstrand suited up for Team Denmark in the tournament, following a massive 63 goal, 118 point season in 59 games for WHL Portland (and another 13 goals and 25 points in 17 playoff games). The speedy winger has grown a couple of inches since he was drafted in 2013, and while he'll never be an imposing physical presence on the ice, his skill and grit should serve him well as a pro.
    • Jackets' Bjorkstrand Up To 61 Goals In WHL

News: Oliver Bjorkstrand registered a hat trick in Portland's (WHL) 6-3 loss to Seattle on Saturday.
Analysis: The three markers on Saturday give Oliver Bjorkstrand 61 goals in just 58 games this season. He has 13 goals in his last nine games. Bjorkstrand has added 54 assists for good measure. He leads the WHL in points and no other skater has more than 50 goals. Portland's regular season finale is Sunday against Tri-City.
    • Bjorkstrand Scores Four Goals In WHL Friday

News: Oliver Bjorkstrand scored four times in Portland's (WHL) 7-1 win over Seattle on Friday.
Analysis: Oliver Bjorkstrand's complete mockery of the WHL continues. The Danish forward now has a ridiculous 52 goals and 95 points in just 50 games this season. He leads the WHL in goals and is second in points despite the fact he missed nearly a month's worth of junior games while playing for Denmark at the World Juniors. Columbus got an absolute steal with their third-round-pick (89th overall) in the 2013 Entry Draft.
    • Jackets Return Bjorkstrand to Portland

News: Oliver Bjorkstrand has been returned to the WHL Portland Winterhawks.
Analysis: No real surprise here, as the fact that he still had junior eligibility pretty much guaranteed that Oliver Bjorkstrand would play in Portland for one more season. Expect him to be among the WHL's leading scorers this season.
