Sharks' Chris Tierney: Returns to action Thursday

Tierney (undisclosed) will suit up against the Jets on Thursday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports. Tierney returns to the ice with a chance to end his 25-game goalless streak that dates back to Feb. 13. The winger offers very little in terms of fantasy value as he has garnered a paltry three assists over that span in addition to 2 PIM and just 28 shots on goal.

Sharks' Chris Tierney: Out against Minnesota

Tierney has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup with the Wild with an undisclosed injury, Curtis Pashelka of the Bay Area News Group reports. Tierney is suffering from some "bumps and bruises" meaning he will should be available to return soon, despite being sidelined against Minnesota. The center is mired in an 11-game point drought and hasn't bent the twine since Feb. 13 against Arizona. In addition to his lack of production of late, the 21-year-old is averaging 13:11 in ice time per game without appearing on the team's power play, further lowering his fantasy value.

    Sharks' Chris Tierney: Scores game-winner

Tierney tallied the game-winner in Thursday's 3-1 win over Arizona. Tierney's hot streak just keeps going; he is now riding a three-game point streak and has three goals in his last five games. The Canadian center has matched his career-high six goals. Though he plays on the bottom-six, it may be wise to pick up Tierney for a few games while he's hot.

    Sharks' Chris Tierney: Heating up

Tierney had a goal and four shots through just 10:53 in Saturday's win over Dallas. Since a stint in the AHL, Tierney has looked motivated despite slim ice time. He has two goals and three assists in the five games since being recalled.

Sharks' Chris Tierney: Notches shortie, assist in win

Tierney opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal and added an assist on Joel Ward's empty-netter in Tuesday's win over the Jets. An awful pass attempt by Dustin Byfuglien on the power play went right into Tierney's skates, then the 21-year-old took the puck straight to a prime scoring area and snapped it up high past a stunned Connor Hellebuyck. With the empty-net helper tacked on, Tierney now has five points over the last three games since returning from his latest AHL stint. He's also averaging well over 15 minutes of ice time in that span, which is an interesting development. Remember, Tierney's been a 40-goal scorer in juniors and a point-per-game man in the minors.

Sharks' Chris Tierney: Posts point in return from AHL

Tierney had an assist, a plus-1 rating, two penalty minutes and no shots in Saturday's 7-0 win over Toronto. It was Tierney's first game back from a short stint in the AHL. It wasn't a knock out performance, but good to see him respond in some way to his demotion, even if he didn't manage to take a single shot.

    Sharks' Chris Tierney: Recalled Friday

Tierney was recalled from AHL San Jose on Friday. During Tierney's brief time in the minors, he recorded a goal and two assists in two games. The former second-round pick now has 32 points in 31 AHL games, but has yet to find anything near that type of success at the NHL level. At the moment, it's unclear what role Tierney will fill in the Sharks' lineup.

Sharks' Chris Tierney: Heads to AHL

Tierney has been reassigned to the AHL. Tierney has been inconsistent this season. He's without a goal in his last 10 games and without a point in his last six games. His reassignment isn't surprising.

Sharks' Chris Tierney: Snaps slump Thursday

Tierney snapped a nine-game goalless streak with a goal in Thursday's win over the Panthers. It was an ugly stretch for a young player who looked like he could jump into fantasy relevance following last season's performance. Through 13 games this season, he's been held to one shot or less in seven matches. His production isn't consistent enough to merit a lot of consideration in most formats.

  • Tierney Likely To Be Sharks Third Line Center

News: After a strong freshman campaign, Chris Tierney is likely to start the season as the Sharks third line center, according to CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz.
Analysis: With Chris Tierney at center, there isn't much room for him to rise on the team's depth chart, short of an injury to Logan Couture or Joe Thornton. The 21-year-old will be in a place to succeed with some offensive talent on his wings, but his ceiling is capped by lack of mobility inside the roster.
